West Ham Closing In on Duran Deal

West Ham United are edging closer to securing the signing of Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran according to the latest report from ExWHUEmployee.

The forward has also deleted all reference to the Midlands club from his social media feeds and seems to be agitating for a move to East London.

The Hammers have identified the Colombian as a key target to bolster their attacking options and are confident of reaching an agreement with the Midlands club.

Duran is keen on a transfer move to the London Stadium and has made it clear to Aston Villa that he wants to join West Ham. The 20-year-old believes he can thrive under the guidance of manager Julen Lopetegui.

There had been a bit of a lull in the talks recently, with it understood the fee being a stumbling block as West Ham seek a package that includes incentive based payments, which Aston Villa have to date been reluctant to agree to.

While there is still some work to do, there is cautious optimism within the West Ham camp that a deal can be finalised shortly, however the Hammers head coach is not a patient man and will not want to wait too long.

Closing in on him, give it another couple of hours & it will be the hammers have pull the plug on signing him. All the 6/8 new signings we needed should all be on the pre season tour bonding together, not panic buys when we have lost the first few games of the new season. Same old dithering Dave. Sullivan that is, can’t blame Moyes now.

This strikes me as a train wreck waiting to happen. I’d take him, but certainly not for a price that might preclude us from getting another CB which is a far greater need, IMO. Guy can’t even get minutes for Colombia and everyone who knows him all say he’s trouble. This high price comes from the fact that Chelsea wanted him so Villa (wisely) is charging a premium, but we shouldn’t be the suckers to pay so much.

    Hi there.

I am a Villa fan who comes in peace to give my two cents about Duran & his potential transfer.

Duran could become a top player as he has the raw ingredients. He is tall, strong, fast, has energy, & has a left foot like a traction engine. He has been best coming off the bench late in game against tired defences where his “bombastic” style causes mayhem.

He has lots of energy, runs around like a bull in a China shop & disrupts things. Its quite fun to watch at the start.

Team mates have no idea what he will do, so opposition defences have no chance.

On the flip side, his second touch can often be a tackle. And a rash one at that. He is a yellow card just waiting to happen.

That is because he is not a very cultured footballer. Not yet anyway. So his first touch is not always the greatest & his natural instinct is to try to rectify his mistake & make a challenge. And he is not good at those.

The biggest problem with Duran is his head. As Barry’sboots mentioned, he is a coin flip as to whether he becomes Drogba or Balotelli.

Whether thats on the field by a lack of discipline & not being a team player or off the field by damaging a rental property & getting kicked out, or causing a car crash & wrecking his own car, he has the ability to do something stupid at any point. So the worry is, “what is coming next”?

And he 100% wants to move go Chelsea. He has been making pretty eyes at them for over 18 months, doing the same thing he did with your club by removing Villa from his social media, but after they showed interest & everything was agreed between all parties, they attempted to force us into lowering our desired price by saying they would walk away, thinking that we would cave.

When we laughed at them, they kept their distance. But whether they come back for him at a later date, maybe right after you agree fees & wages, only time will tell because Chelsea have no morals.

If they don’t & you sign him, then after a while, especially if he plays well, he will do the same thing to your club if Chelsea come back sniffing around again.

So we will lose the problem & it will be shifted onto your club & fans. And it will start with him being petty on social media & deleting details of his employer before he has left.m

Another concern is him moving to “the bright lights of London”. He is a bit of a party boy & often travels to London from the Midlands. So his desire to move there is one of the driving forces behind wanting a move from Villa. Granted, he wants more minutes too, & fair play for that, I can respect that, but there is another coin flip as to whether he becomes a regular goalscorer & a fantastic player who lives to play football, or a washed out drunk who lives to party & just uses football for the finances to party.

Either way, if you sign him, I wish the kid luck. And I wish your club luck with him. He could be fantastic, or he could be trash. But the journey will be interesting to follow.

Let see if they get over the line hahaha

    pay the 35 ffs

    Villa fan in peace.

Duran could be anything if he knuckles down and works hard but he could also be the next Balotelli – he’s as mad as a box of frogs. After he scored the goals v Liverpool, McGinn was interviewed and said as much, commenting that he wasn’t even sure that Duran knew he was in Birmingham!

However, I think he has the potential to disrupt a dressing room though and that, as much as anything, is why we would let him go for the right money.

I hope you do get him – we need the money/headroom to re-invest – and that he delivers. Albeit to not too high a level!!

    Good luck.

If we were close the deal would be done, suspect the board are stringing this out to keep us in the press while they wait to see what is happening with Toney, Brentford’s £50m for a player who can go on a free at the end of the season is fanciful, given the money constraints most clubs will probably wait until the end of the January window and get him for £15-20m or less or just wait until he is a free agent next season.

    agreed John

  • silky says:

fingers x……..got a good feeling about him

    • G says:

I agree and also feel confident about the recruitment, training and change of style for the year ahead if we get him and a RW, CB

    • SirAlfred says:

Me too silky based on the few times Ive seen him. Think he has the potential to be better than Watkins but understand yhat might take a while and Villa are doing the right thing by building on their great achievement now and revamping their squad so their champs league finish is not a one-off

  • John Ayris says:

This has always been the likely transfer. Villa have been spending and have ambitions to spend more but like all clubs now need to balance the books at some point so need to sell too. Clubs need to wheel and deal now.

Duran has always been on the goods outwards list doesn’t mean they don’t rate him means the books need to balance and has always been one of our main targets. It’s very likely to get done with significant add ons.
