The will-he-won’t-he saga surrounding West Ham assistant manager Paco Jémez appears to have been given some clarity.

The Spaniard’s contract was due to expire at the end of the Premier League campaign and he seemed to be saying goodbye to Hammers fans when he posted:

“It’s been tough, but it’s been worth it.

Thank you Nuno! Thank you West Ham.

Thank you Hammers! From now on I’m just another Iron.”

Not Goodbye After All?

And that was that.

Or at least so we thought.

Because only five days later, Paco posted a cryptic social media message saying:

“But what if it wasn’t the end…?”

Quite the tease really.

The popular Jémez, who is believed to have played a major role in the turnaround of West Ham’s form after joining in January, was understood to have been in discussions with Nuno Espírito Santo regarding his future at the club.

Music To Hammers Fans’ Ears

Now it would seem those discussions have borne fruit, with Paco telling Alex Jennings yesterday:

“I hope I can do my bit to return the club to the top. West Ham should always be in the Premier League… the fans have shown me so much love, they’ve made me a Hammer for life.”

Music to the ears of Hammers fans.

After all, with so much upheaval at the club right now, a bit of continuity is certainly not to be sniffed at.

    I bet he’s hoping the inept Nuno, who refused to listen to Paco towards the end, by the looks of the dreadful results when we needed them most of all, will be sacked and he can step in and take over.
    Thankfully he’s not a client of tax-dodger and shady dealings Jorge Mendes so the club won’t carry on being filled with Mendes cast-offs (Fernandes apart). The fact Mendes has power at both Wolves and West Ham should worry fans greatly.

    I knew the fan clubs should have organized an end of season knees up, relegated or not!(did not know there would be this much to celebrate though)
