Calls for former West Ham boss David Moyes to return to the Hammers’ hot seat have been gaining traction on social media following the teamā€™s 1-0 loss to Manchester City yesterday.

TV cameras caught “Moyesie” in the stands at the Etihad Stadium, presumably brushing up on his football knowledge ahead of a possible return to management.

The images sparked speculation that Moyes was there scouting West Ham ahead of a sensational third spell as manager.

However, a senior source at the London Stadium has firmly dismissed the idea. Speaking exclusively to Claret & Hugh, the insider said: ā€œNot really. As much as I like Moyes, we started letting in goals during his last six months here.ā€

Moyes has been waiting for a return to management and was linked to roles at Leicester City and Southampton. Whether he was overlooked for those positions or is holding out for the Everton job remains unclear. But with The Toffee’s new stadium nearing completion and Sean Dyche looking increasingly precarious, it looks like the smart choice.

What is certain is that the former Hammers boss is staying in the public eye. A return to football seems inevitable, but it wonā€™t be at West Ham

See if dynamo is available because at this moment we need a magician.

There will be riots if the dinosaur comes back, propa tear ups

  • D.f.butcher says:

Stay away Moyes , we need to improve not go parallel, as usual when things get rough every one runs around like headless chickens spreading rumours and talking crap, what we need is someone to inspire the troops, not down them, we need a decent man manager and captain , the problem is we are a rudderless ship , all the transfers in the world won’t cure that

    • Alaister says:

WHU need Tony Pulis (or someone with the same managerial qualities as him) to make them the opposite of “rudderless” and instil in them a sense of pride, purpose and ruthlessness (e.g. resilience, grit, determination, a real proper fighting spirit, etc.).

  • Cubbie says:

The reason we are a shambles is the dildo midget but it was perpetuated by the disgraceful state Moyes left us ( 12 months too late ) . An ageing team with players running down their contracts who had been ground into the pitch by Moyes . Bennyboy is spot on . We had just won silverware inspite of Moyes and we had the basis of a good squad . Then was the time to invest and move forward . Now we have a second clown running the show who is totally unfit for purpose and a team of deadwood, past there best, cheap imports . Ā£40m invested in a very average centre back who can’t tackle , never threatens at set pieces and is so weak positionally that he is impossible to play with . The other centre backs get the blame but Kilman is the problem .
When Loopys position falses the porn baron to act it will be too late and we will end up with another cheap second rate manager .

  • Ian Graham says:

West Ham certainly could be doing with him just now but to be perfectly honest do you deserve him ???

    • Robin frost says:

Nobody wants Moyes , its clear to see , he has no contract to pay off , clubs should be lining up for him , but they are not..West ham gave Moyes his first ever trophy , after so many years of never getting near a trophy , Moyes was given more than enough resources to finally win something (given a lot of resources actually). Despite it being the lowest trophy that any premier league team could win but he also of course took us close to relegation in that same season

  • Mike says:

Hey Gonzo, what game did you watch? Man C 1-0 WH???? David M in that photo is probably saying to himself “yeah that’s how I had them playing so they are still playing my way”

  • Taffyhammer says:

Wee Davey is certainly holding out for Celtic or Everton (if they can avoid relegation).

He was at yesterday’s match as a surrogate for Frank Lampard. Frank was busy over at Norwich looking after his current charges at Coventry.

He will have been able to report back to Frank that West Ham put in a much better performance than other games this season. Proactive going forward. Creating chances and playing on the front foot. Dreadfully unlucky (we made our own luck) to concede 4 to home side Manchester City. Without a few of our first pick players, too.

Sacked in the morning? I think not. But enough about the current set-up to get us safely through to the end of the season without a change. Plenty of time for Frank to get a handle on a plan going into a new era starting next August. Happy days. Cheers Wee Davey.

  • Dean says:

    Bring back moyea

  • Rob says:

Still can’t believe Lopi has not been sacked yet, Sullivan all over (2 more games then 2 more) sick to death of it all. Sullivan only cares about money coming in,

    • B.singh says:

You can’t blame me the manager it’s the players .who don’t turn up for their duties and perform as they must do

    • Robin Frost says:

Sullivan has been like a rabbit trapped in the headlights ever since David Gold died (god rest his soul)…Sullivan is incapable of making a decision , I’m not sure how he ever made a successful buisness.. Procrastination is his whole being ..

  • Bennyboy baker says:

It was time for moyes to go he should have gone after winning the conference euro cup in his time he did a lot of good for the club but he had taken us as far as he could it was time for a change what I didnā€™t expect was for Sullivan to bring in a so called head coach that hasnā€™t the faintest idea what he is doing as a club with a lot of quality players in the squad we should not be getting beaten so easily no one in the team has any idea what way JLo wants to play tactics are a complete joke itā€™s just hit it long and hope with Bowen out for a month or more things are going to get a lot worse Sullivan and co need to get rid of him now before we get knocked out of the FA cup and that looks like it will be the case our only hope is to get rid of JLo and get someone who knows what they are doing and maybe we will still have something to aim for because with JLo in charge the only thing we will win with him in charge is relegation

    • CareBare says:

I disagree. His last season broke records until Christmas. And we were top in our Europa League.
It was the dismal second half of the season that lost him his job. Moyes is a decent Manager – though I understand why lots of fans wanted him replaced.

      • Morty says:

Exactly and the new contract offered at Christmas led to the poor form by himself and the team.

  • Stan F says:

    Thank **** for that

  • Pete says:

    Sullivan out

    • BRIAN BETTERIDGE says:

I’ve said all along this manager won’t do anything for west ham football club players he brought in some now want to leave. David moves should never been able to leave so now the west ham board need to sack the manager now and bring back David moves or some who will Ä£et west ham back into the top 7 again

  • Kenny Irons says:

If Moyes was re-employed think that would be the final straw for lots of fans, probably the same if the Porn Baron employed Steve Cooper. Sullivan is in last chance saloon as far as Iā€™m concerned. Employ another second rater and I think for a lot of fans thatā€™s goodnight. Sick of the way Sully thinks itā€™s perfectly acceptable to keep a manager who is obviously totally clueless, and he thinks the fans are quite happy to watch their team get spanked every week.

    • rob says:

its because he clearly does not give a flying f for the club or supporters.. the only thing he is bothered about is the pound notes..it doesnt matter what the fans think, he is like the kid who says “its my ball and im going home”

  • Ray says:

Can’t even get the score right for our last game, or just in denial? IT WAS 4-1.

  • Dean says:

Hi gonzo, Iā€™m far more concerned by the presence of Steve cooper, as that man is a sulli dream choice as next managerā€¦.namely grateful for the job, knows heā€™d never get a bigger job, heā€™d be subservient to sulli and would be an amazing lightning Rod for sulli as the fans would turn on him not the owner

  • tom says:

fought we lost 4-1, not 1-0

  • John Ayris says:

Cooper was also there. Evidently it was a popular football match for out of work managers.

  • Galleywood Hammer says:

    Thank God.

  • John Ayris says:

Moyes was not there out of pure chance.

He’d either gone there to be ‘Visible’ or he was there scouting the team.

    Regardless of what anybody says.
