McTominay
West Ham have confirmed to Claret and Hugh they offered Chelsea £37m plus £3m of add ons for Conor Gallagher and that it has been rejected.
However, we understand that the club may be ready to make a second bid of £42 million over the next few days as the club’s current window position was revealed.
We have also been told that we have half a dozen bids in for various players but at this moment none – as we reported a few days ago – are close apart from Carlos Borges who looks to be on his way from Manchester City.
The Hammers have also disclosed that a bid has been made for Scott McTominay but that too fails to meet the the £45m being requested by the Manchester United and West Ham insiders are less optimistic a compromise can be reached.
Claret and Hugh’s major source has revealed that in fact we have six bids in for different players including the two above and added that the first two to three that agree to join will be signed .
I guess any Premier League players that join before the season starts won’t need time to integrate as much as those from abroad (from Moyes’ perspective at least), although Paulinha didn’t seem to require much time last season to get up to scratch with Fulham so maybe defensive midfielders can integrate quicker? Gallagher, McTominay and Ward-Prowse have that benefit, being used to the Premier League. But then do we need Gallagher if we already have attacking midfielders? On top of that he has stated his desire to remain at Chelsea. Do we need Ward-Prowse who, aside from his free kick and corner-taking abilities doesn’t seem to be an upgrade on who we already have? McTominay, i believe is a very good player and definitely an upgrade on any defensive midfielders we have. Personally i think him and Alvarez would be excellent additions. The other two, no thanks.
For me – as an avid Ajax follower from my 17 years in Amsterdam – Alvarez should be priority for me. Great player, cheaper and plenty of champions league experience. JWP and McT I dont feel represent value for money. Only Gallagher from the recent noise (on the CM/DM front) is exciting for me apart from Alvarez
Another year another mess of a transfer window. Another week goes by without any signings and the pre season training window gets shorter by the day. 6 bids for a variety of players shows a complete lack of planning. Rice was always going this summer so why weren’t bids already lined up. This looks disorganised, haphazard without any thought or pre-planning. If anyone thinks Maguire and McTominay are solutions they really need their heads examined. .
