West Ham’s situation today is shaped by a relegation battle that has tightened dramatically, with several clubs still in danger and Wolves’ unexpected resurgence adding new pressure. The stakes are high across the bottom six, and the margins are shrinking fast.
West Ham must win tonight against Fulham, and to do so would place them outside the relegation zone above Nottingham Forest, one point behind Tottenham and only three points away from Leeds United.
Spurs form has been poor, they have gone over two months without a win in the league, making every remaining fixture a must‑take opportunity.
In short, West Ham need to seize momentum now or risk being cut adrift as the run‑in intensifies.
Wolves have been bottom all season and were, at one point, given a 100% probability of relegation. That changed dramatically after back‑to‑back wins over Aston Villa and Liverpool, which have given them a glimmer of miracle survival. Their survival probability has risen to 0.16%, still tiny, but no longer zero.

Liverpool shocker – Wolves 2-1 victory last night
They remain 11 points from safety with only 16 points from 30 games. Their form spike is real, but the scale of the task remains daunting.
Realistically, Wolves’ survival is still highly unlikely, but not mathematically impossible. Their remaining fixtures include games against us, Burnley, Leeds and Tottenham as well as Brentford, Fulham, Sunderland and Brighton.
Wolves staying up would require a historic run of form and multiple collapses above them. It’s feasible only in the mathematical sense — but football has seen stranger escapes.
Even Burnley over the weekend – until VAR cancelled out their fourth goal against Brentford – would have been 3 points behind West Ham.
The reality is West Ham are not only looking above yet also below, and the fight is now a six‑team scrap involving West Ham, Wolves, Burnley, Leeds, Nottingham Forest and Tottenham. Every match is key and tonight’s result for West Ham could reshape the bottom three again.
We will go above Forest if we win but they could still beat city. Unlikely I know but it’s no certainty
Wolves and Burnley doing better may help by lowering the number of points needed to avoid relegation. If one or more teams at the bottom have low points totals it generally results in a higher ‘escape’ total. Even more important if they take points off potential relegation rivals.
Other teams will blow out, it’s a matter of whether we do too…
I still blame my son in law for the draw with Man Utd. He phoned and said I hear you have beaten the Mancs well done, I said no we’re still playing…….oh
