West Ham could swap one Senegalese striker for another

PalWest Ham are reportedly re-looking at 24-year-old  Senegalese striker Khouma Babacar from Fiorentina. With fellow Senegal Striker Diafra Sakho outbound this transfer window Babacar could be the man to replace him.

The player has at times been compared to “a young Didier Drogba” but is more physical and looks suited to the Premier League claim reports.

In June last year, the agent of Khouma Babacar remained coy over the striker’s future amid links with Premier League clubs when West Ham were last linked. The forward’s agent, Patrick Bastianelli, previously told Radio Blu: “What of Babacar’s future? We’ll see, at the moment he is contracted on the objective to be achieved with Fiorentina.”

Babacar, who has also attracted interest from Palace and West Bromwich Albion, has scored four goals in Serie A this season, though all 15 of his appearances have been off the bench with the head coach, Stefano Pioli, preferring Giovanni Simeone ahead of the 24-year-old. Babacar has only three Senegal caps but would hope a move, and regular involvement in the Premier League, would help him gain selection for the summer’s World Cup.

  1. I read yesterday that Palace were already signing him on loan ( I think ). I hope not because we were looking at him last summer, and I thought then he looked good. More of a big target man than Sahko, but quicker and more tricky than Carroll.

  2. More physical than Drogba? Are you sure he is not Anthony Joshua in disguise lol…Actually from his stats it sounds a poor swap, apart from Sakho’s two issues – fitness (lack of) & bolshieness (too much of). Have not done any of my own research, but based on the above- not impressed. I watched a game with that Simeone playing & he made Eminike look like Ronaldo. What donkey. So if this bloke is second string to him God help us. But then he just joins a long list of ‘linked with’ reports that lead straight to the Big Nowhere. Only 16 days to go. Yawn yawn ……

  3. Agree above.
I like Babacar is still young 24 6’3 but has some pace & can link up has played well just off bench if Sakho is going rather him got to France & us get a good young rounded CF we were intereted in anyway.

  4. Babacar a done deal to Palace apparently. Amazing how they’ve got so much money to spend and we have no pot to wee in! Now what is it we are doing wrong again?
