The summer transfer window has yet to open, but the rumour mill is already churning in the Premier League. This year promises to be another active window, and Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly is one of the names grabbing headlines.

The 25-year-old centre-back is set to become a free agent at the end of June, making him a prime target for several clubs. Newcastle United appears to be at the forefront of the race, having reportedly entered advanced talks with Kelly. This comes after they missed out on Tosin Adarabioyo.

However, the Magpies’ pursuit isn’t without its complications. West Ham has emerged as a surprise contender for Kelly’s signature, throwing a spanner into Newcastle’s plans.

The Newcastle Chronical has played down recent claims that Kelly has signed a pre-contract agreement with the Toon team. Many were duped by a picture of Kelly holding a Magpies shirt but it was not from the Newcastle media team and the signing has not yet been completed.

The Hammers’ newfound attraction might stem from the influence of their new manager, Julen Lopetegui. The Spaniard’s brand of football, known for its continental flair, could be a factor in Kelly’s decision. The chance to be part of a fresh project from the beginning could hold significant appeal.

While sporting factors are likely to be the deciding force, PSR could also play a role. Newcastle appear to be suffering from spending since a Saudi takeover and and currently trying to fend off interest from Manchester United in some of their top stars.

    “The Newcastle Chronical”

Did a 10 year old proof read this?

he sounds like a natural replacement for aguerd

left footed ball playing centre back, exactly what we’ve been looking for – and he’s on a free and home grown

the biggest issue is his injury record, due for a least one serious injury every season keeping him out of 2 months or so – that’s enough for me too reconsider

with kilman being almost prohibitively expensive and jacob reeves being a little too slow he might be the one to go for, another option that we’ve been linked with is esteve from burnley

tbh i think we’re very serious about esteve as burnley is now hunting for a left sided centre back and targetting reeves

esteve is younger, quick, build like a tank and decent on the ball although not as good as the others, although he does travel well with it like mavros

on the right side we are now in for vitao, now he is a ball playing centre back so maybe we switch it up, the right side being more the ball playing central defender, either way mavros and esteve will be serviceable in possible, with a new system you rely on teamwork to provide easy passing lanes, defenders don’t need vision like messi to make it work

You’re a typical myopic Southerner who knows nothing about this area at all.
Keep on living in ignorance mate. It’ll keep the air cleaner up here.
