West Ham have been dealt a blow in their efforts to generate funds for the January transfer window.
The Hammers had planned to offload several fringe players to create space on the wage bill. However, Claret and Hugh have discovered in the past hour that attempts to move on midfielder Guido Rodríguez have hit a “brick wall.”
The news comes from a trusted source with excellent insight into the club’s transfer dealings. Despite multiple attempts to offload Rodríguez, there have been no takers.
The Argentinian World Cup winner is keen to leave West Ham, but hopes that a La Liga club would step in for him have been dashed. It is understood that while there was a tentative inquiry for the midfielder in October, nothing has materialised since.
As a result, new Irons manager Graham Potter is expected to include Rodríguez in his plans for the remainder of the season unless something drastic changes.
The former Real Betis and Club América player started West Ham’s last match against Fulham and, aside from some poor marking for the Cottagers’ second goal, delivered a solid performance.
It’s difficult to know what issues players had under Lopetegui things were so chaotic. They probably all need looking at with a fresh eye under Potter. Some have shown notable improvements already.
As expected outgoings nil incomings nil.
So much for all the speculation.
Same with nearly all the premiership teams so far this window, very quiet. Only Villa, Wolves, Spurs ànd Bournemouth done any business. Seems all the sites trying to keep us interested with usual rumours.
Not to recruit with the second worst goals conceded in the PL and no recognised CF available for the second half of the season IMO is gross negligence! But then introspect, the majority of previous signings are mostly questionable and proven to be poor so probably best not to bother and promote academy hopefuls!
