West Ham duo chances boosted

By Sean Whetstone

West Ham chances of signing Emmanuel Dennis and Ismaila Sarr from relegated club Watford took a boost this weekend.

Last month Claret and Hugh exclusively revealed David Moyes interest in the duo pointing out that the pair can play in a variety of forward roles

Watford sporting director Cristiano Giaretta confirmed both players are free to leave the club if their valuations are met.

Giaretta told the Watford Observer: “They would like to leave and have been looking at potential moves, but they are not causing us any problems.

“They are not banging on our door to get away as soon as they can.

“They will stay at the club if the market doesn’t deliver something we think is acceptable. In the same way Sarr stayed with us the last time we were in the Championship.”

Sarr made 22 league appearances for the club last season, with a total of seven-goal contributions.

Dennis made 30 league appearances for Watford having joined the club last summer from Club Brugge. In that spell, he scored 10 times and assisted a further six.

The Hammers are still in the hunt for Armando Broja as a primary target  so it not clear whether they would attempt to sign both Watford players if they land the Chelsea player

  1. do it and do it very quickly, weve then got insurance, both good players, 35 mill for both, great buisness, hope we dont wait for chelsea to make up our minds, and lose these targets, by delaying a broja deal.
we need signings now, involved in pre season games, not a month into the season.

    • Agree I would be all over Dennis Especially over a goal contribution a game, pace need left winger too & played 5 times on right then 15 or so up top. Like Sarr too he is taller but both 24. We really need two strikers & left sided winger, Dennis would cover that & If still got Broja great. If not we aren’t doing last minute deals on deadline day hoping it’s not just Antonio again. Both Dennis & Sarr would be great not high wage either & I like Broja but really I think Dennis slots in quicker & can utilise with or without Antonio.

  2. I reckon ” Dithering Dave ” could get this one over the line before the start of the 23 / 24 season if they are still available by that time !!!!!

  3. Just please get on with it, be bold and show that we have a plan and mean business. Hanging about in the shadows is going to get us nowhere, and waiting for players who may not be available (Broja) or not want to join us (Lingard) appears naive, and that’s not to insult our manager, it’s just so unproductive and sends the wrong message to potential players

  4. No thanks to either of these Watford rejects. Where is all the money from tv rights? If we want top half next season we gotta set out sights a lot higher. Pay the money clubs want for their players not monopoly money
