In what has been a slow news week for West Ham following the closing of the transfer window and the Premier League break, it’s perhaps inevitable that the odd false rumour would surface.

And as always seems to be the case, it’s the bad news that grabs the headlines. This time, it was speculation that Crysencio Summerville had suffered another injury setback.

The Dutch winger was sensational on his return to first-team action against Nottingham Forest, but whispers suggested he had picked up another hamstring problem. The 23-year-old changed the game in West Ham’s 3-0 win, and fans feared he might miss Saturday’s clash with Tottenham and beyond.

Summerville improved the whole West Ham team

However, Claret & Hugh can finally put those rumours to bed with news that will be a huge relief to Hammers fans. We’ve been told Summerville is “100% fine” by a trusted training ground source.

Summerville report was fake news

When asked about the supposed injury, the response was clear: “That’s news to me. He was training as normal yesterday and is 100% fine.”

Not only is the Hammers trickster injury-free, but he’s also said to be “fired up” and training brilliantly.

With Graham Potter set to rely heavily on Summerville this season, the former Leeds man badly needs an injury-free campaign.

Thanks for setting the record straight, Gonzo. A setback for Summerville would have been a nightmare. And may have given Potter the slightest excuse he may need to revert to type and regress to the dreaded 5-3-2 system.

Hopefully the medical team that strengthened Antonio’s hamstrings are still with us?
