West Ham Exclusive as Transfer Insider Lifts Lid on £20M Guilherme Future

Poor old Luis Guilherme has never really had much of a chance at West Ham.

Following his £20 million move from Palmeiras, the young Brazilian has been overlooked by three successive managers — and now looks set to be on his way out of the club.

Clearly, his lack of game time under new boss Nuno Espirito Santo isn’t about his age. After all, the Hammers boss has happily used 20-year-old Malick Diouf, 19-year-old Ollie Scarles, and the young midfield duo of Freddie Potts and Mateus Fernandes.

Guilherme has failed to make a mark at West Ham and is likely to leave in January

Perhaps it’s time to admit that Guilherme is simply a transfer that hasn’t worked out.

Guilherme Likely to Leave on Loan

Late last night, Claret & Hugh spoke to a senior transfer source with close knowledge of the Brazilian market. When asked whether Guilherme was likely to leave in January, the response was immediate:

“I think he’ll leave on loan. Honestly, I don’t think there’s been a serious transfer offer since Flamengo made a bid last winter. He’ll go on loan with a possible option.”

It seems clear that Guilherme has no real future at the London Stadium. A loan move looks inevitable as West Ham attempt to clean up what has been a pretty disastrous transfer strategy in recent years

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

Started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

Give West Ham opinions on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus.

I think he will be like Amad at man utd a year in the championship now a starter every week. I have Argentinean mates who also rate him as top drawer

  • Bennyboy Baker says:

He has never been given a chance to prove himself I believe he could become a top striker given the chance letting go on loan would give the club a chance to see what he can do but still remains a West Ham player if he fails then look to sell him if he shows how good he actually is then we could have a top striker on the pitch for us but I wouldn’t write him off just yet

  • Peter whu says:

The only time he has not looked good was when Potter tried to play him as a wingback and he looked completely lost on the pitch. I think it just shows that the WHU Academy players all seem to have a tactical awareness on the pitch of how the game is going, where to place themselves,.. that might be a marked difference between him and our academy, but as an out and out footballer on the other hand he seems to have plenty going for him to say the least. Interesting job for whoever follows him at WHU| on his loan spell.
I really agree with Pat, but looking even further ahead when these youngsters are 22+.

Gonzo I’ve friends in Brazil Hes still rated there as a near future full international I cant understand what we dont see in him I feel someone will come in for him with great benifits to them A grave mistake going to be made here We will regret this for many years to come STILL I GUESS FOOTBALL IS ALL ABOUT OPINIONS OUR RECENT RECORD ISNT GREAT IS IT

    • Gonzo says:

Afternoon Mick mate. It’s such a shame because we all had high hopes. It was a very un-West Ham thing to do to pay £20m for a young Brazilian talent. I just hope it hasn’t put us off.

  • Sue says:

Great shame, I think of what I have seen of him that he has not been given a fair chance,
He is only young in a different country and I think we should only loan him for a period and have him back if he shows promise if given the chance of regular games

  • Peter whu says:

Good news if he goes out on loan, it will be his chance to develop. Like Dinos & Todibo never been trusted by managers and it’ll do him good to get off of training pitches. In one respect he’s a veteran.😊

Hopefully his level of english is good and he’ll want to go and play football as much as he can. I know it is not the train of thought of the article, but you never know, given a chance I hope he makes an impact wherever he goes – some of the football played in the championship (just watching highlights say of Coventry games) will really suit him!! Hope he is given a chance and manages to impress. He looks nifty enough when we have glimpsed him playing for WHU.

  • John says:

It’s a shame he has blistering pace and I think a championship loan would be the best for him.

  • Paul says:

I agree with Reg we should give him a chance. you cant play the kid for 15 minutes here and 15 minutes there and make your mind up that he doesn’t fit-in, that’s crazy. what’s the betting we sell him 4 a lose 0f 5 mill and down the road he becomes the next Jarrod Bowen 2.0. cause lets face it guys we’ve done it before more than once. and it’s not gonna cost us a penny to give him 3 or 4 outings between now and the transfer window opens is it.
    C O Y I’s
    Cheers Paul.

  • Jeeps says:

Loan without obligation to buy look at Mubama (city rubbing their hands).
Unfortunately speculation on players coming whu will need funds.
Never been given chance to show his talent Endrick very similar which is why he wouldn’t come to whu.

  • ? says:

Never played a full game has he? So how do we know if he’d ever cut the mustard?

    • Gonzo says:

We don’t know which is why we have to guess as to the reasons why.

My guess is that three successive managers probably haven’t seen enough in training. Whatever that reason, the club are looking to loan him out in Jan.

  • Morty says:

I would loan him to a Championship club for 6 months, I still think there is a player in there

  • REGINALD OLIVER says:

He should be given a chance

  • Pat says:

Guilherme would be devastating in the championship, they would be idiots to sell him this year, we need to keep one eye on who we can build around next season in the event we go down. Yes we have some youngsters that can step in, but players that have been around and played in the first team will be far more valuable in a push to return.

    • Taffyhammer says:

If we start planning to go down, then go down we will.

We need to look to the future of how to cope with PL and European games.

Glass half full as ever, Pat.
