A source with inside knowledge of West Ham’s recruitment has highlighted precisely the type of striker the Hammers will be chasing in January.
The revelation follows reports that West Ham could look to sign England striker Ivan Toney on loan in the upcoming transfer window. As I wrote last night, the former Brentford man is one of the few players who would guarantee Premier League goals and would be a smart acquisition — if the club could get him.

West Ham will not move for Toney in January
Fast, Versatile Forward the Priority
However, speaking to a transfer source who has negotiated multiple deals for West Ham and across Europe, Claret & Hugh were given a clear insight into the club’s real transfer priorities.
“Forget Toney. West Ham are looking for a very quick, mobile striker who can play across the front line,” our source explained. “Toney is an out-and-out number 9 who needs pace around him, and West Ham are a slow team. All of the club’s current problems have been with recruitment — it’s diabolical.
“They need pace up front and pace in midfield. Yes, Nuno had Chris Wood at Forest, but he had pace either side and a quick player behind him. Toney had the same at Brentford. Anyway, he’s on £250k per week in Saudi, so there’s no chance.”
Our source also confirmed that conversations have already taken place at club level regarding strengthening the frontline. “West Ham have already been offered a player who fits the bill. It’s on loan with an obligation to buy — and no, it’s not Ivan Toney.”
Let’s hope Marshall hits the ground running because Sullivan has an atrocious record for signing old nags up front.
Toney won’t find a club unless he wants to sacrifice his wages.
We will be linked with Duran again the nearer to the window which will be more rubbish, En Nesri, Omoroddion lazy journalism for clicks.
Sully won’t pay money or buy quality – shock horror SULLIVAN OUT
Hi Gonzo , from your knowledge would the said target provide pace and goals in your opinion . Secondly does Nuno want him.
Hello Mark, to be honest mate he wouldn’t tell me who the target was but said he had been offered to West Ham.
Excellent question as to whether Nuno wants him and the truth is I don’t know. There is zero info coming from the club at the moment BUT . . . it is Nuno who has asked for a quick striker, I know that much.
It’s probably Andy Carroll !
