West Ham Exclusive: Hammers Set to Let Key Man Leave Despite Heroics

One of West Ham’s key players is unlikely to be offered a new Hammers contract, Claret & Hugh learned earlier today. That is despite recently playing a pivotal role in the clubs recent resurgence in the fight against relegation.

Tomáš Souček has been a major factor in the club’s improved form since December and looks back to something approaching his best. Like the rest of his Hammers teammates, Souček has been fighting for everything — and even popping up with goals as a regular feature of Nuno Espírito Santo’s reshaped midfield.

Souček is now just 16 months away from the end of his current deal, and it would be reasonable to expect discussions over his future to be scheduled once the club’s Premier League fate becomes clear.

However, it appears no such talks are currently planned.

Souček Future at West Ham in Doubt

The 31-year-old is not expecting a contract offer from the club despite his strong performances.

Speaking to Claret & Hugh, a source close to the player explained the situation.

“Tomas loves West Ham but nothing has changed. I don’t think they’ll offer him another deal. He’s been brilliant for the club and was outstanding again against Man City. But that’s football.”

It is understood Souček would love to remain at the London Stadium. However, unless something changes dramatically in the coming months, the long-serving midfielder may be approaching the final chapter of his West Ham career.

When a player gets to that age decisions should be left to the last minute. Although Thomas hasn’t had injury issues he’s getting to a stage where in may happen. I sure a discussion will happen later when many things including relegation are much clearer

Feel the same as Ryan Chapman for one more season, because there was a Soucek effect in midfield that was actually suffering from too little experience. When NES first brought him back on, he steadied the ship immediately, it was striking and he has been there since.

If he should leave, hope he returns in the future to the London Stadium. Perhaps to work with youngsters, or to act as a go-between with Czechia and thereabouts. Talent spotting, loans for Academy players to and from Czechia,… think he’d be good working with youngsters and need to find something to combine his love for his homeland, with football & WHU.

This is ridiculous they’ve just offered Wilson a new 1 year’s deal and he’s 34 ! Moyes wants him so give him a 2 year deal and sell him to Moyes for £15 m

Be absolutely gutted to see him go. He has been so vital in our resurgence and has been so pivotal over many years. If we go down I think he’ll have a vital part to play in getting us back up potentially even being captain and even if we stay up I think he will still have a role now don’t get me wrong we will have to move on from Soucek at some point but I still believe he has a role next season as well from the bench.
