These are tough days at West Ham United. For fans, yesterdays headlines made grim reading. News stories proliferated after the Brentford defeat which focussed on the likely departures of Crysencio Summerville and Mateus Fernandes – amongst others, (more on that later) in the increasingly ‘possible’ event of the Hammers being unable to overtake Tottenham.
The situation regarding Nuno Espirito Santo has also been far from clear. “West Ham want Nuno to stay” shouted media outlets yesterday. Many of us wondered whether the Portuguese head coach would willingly submit himself to another slugfest in the Championship, when top tier clubs would be queueing up to hire him – without of course the 50% salary deduction likely to follow if he stayed at West Ham.

Manager and assistant – will they remain together next season? Or insider makes huge claim
If the Hammers are relegated the consequences for the squad and management are enormous
Claret and Hugh reached out to one of our top transfer sources, independent from, but very close to several players within the West Ham family for some insider info on what is really happening as the Hammers board eyes up the very real threat of relegation: Would Nuno stay?
“Nuno has no contract if the club get relegated. He only has one for the Premier League, so he will be gone”.
…Revealing the alarming situation for the board – and for supporters – should the Hammers fail to pull off their Great Escape 2.0.
Like it or not, then, a Championship-bound West Ham United would most likely begin their summer with a search for a new manager – if they aren’t already working on it- to prepare for the new challenge of a freshly relegated side trying to organise a half-decent challenge for promotion.
That explains the recent stories in the media concerning Slaven Bilic and Scott Parker, amongst others, then, With three games to go, West Ham’s board must surely be hoping for the best, but secretly and feverishly planning for the worst.
Please show some ambition and at least attempt to lure Craig Bellamy….
Someone I’m sure we would all be quite happy to get behind….
I am sure Sully and Nuno will reach an agreement on a new contract. Personally I hope that he goes not because he is not good enough to get us out of the championship but because I have had enough of defensive minded managers ( Moyes Pelligrini Allardyce Potter and Nuno )
I would like to see a adventurous manager playing the West Ham way as we had under Greenwood Lyall and Bilic
Would be great to see a change of style of play, after all these years.
Can see what’s left of this team struggling to stay in the championship, the truth is it has very little going for it, along with the fact players will have to be sold, it doesn’t look too good does it ! How sad we are talking about the “great escape 2 0″ , I suppose this must be the ” new level ” we were promised…
Before we were told he had a contract and if relegated salary decrease is of 50%, also he could walk away without compensation if he preferred. Not saying article is dud, or contradictory, but the conclusion ‘he’ll be gone’ is.
It simply means no terms have been pre-agreed if club is relegated, so that means if all parties are interested everything is on the table. Which is fine and normal.
Of course NES will have PL offers, but for a manager changing clubs is also a leap of faith (NES at Spurs) and perhaps NES + Jimez (I hope) might want to see if they can realise some of the potential that there is at WHU – especially with joint chairmanship if that also happens.
Look at Chelsea, buckets of money, the kind of owners people keep saying you need to succeed in the PL, they have renown players, yet they are churning through managers and … I’ll stop there, I’m not a fan to say the least.
Keep Jemez He has been great for us since he has bee there
I fear we had all better prepare for the desperate news that the dreadful appointment of Sean Dyche is around the corner.
The thinking man’s Sam Allardyce then..sigh. Probably just what is needed for a dirty, ungainly promotion winning campaign.
The perfect manager for Sullivan too Martin, he will divide the fanbase as some will welcome it, some might think it pragmatic and others will hate it. I’m in the latter category as have had a gutful of turgid uninspiring football, I think it would also signal that sulli is going nowhere and that he will once again see himself as the only man capable of fulfilling the role of DoF this summer. I’m sure his trusted agents will be extremely happy at that news. Cheers
The Board, don’t get me started on the board, I would cheerfully….
