West Ham Exclusive: Irons Reject Chelsea Kudus Offer

West Ham have confirmed that Chelsea have made an official approach with a cash-plus-player offer for Mohammed Kudus.

Earlier today, Hammers News exclusively reported that the Blues had offered a group of players — including Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Robert Sánchez, Carney Chukwuemeka, Tosin Adarabioyo, and Trevoh Chalobah — as part of a deal to lure the Ghanaian winger to Stamford Bridge.

Since then, Claret & Hugh have spoken to a top official at West Ham, who has verified the approach and revealed the Hammers’ firm response.
“Sadly, none of the players interest us,” said the source, confirming the bid was rejected outright.

As we’ve reported consistently since October, Kudus has been up for sale, and it was only injuries to Jarrod Bowen, Michail Antonio, and Niclas Füllkrug that prevented his departure in January.

West Ham are clearly looking to bank a significant fee for the 24-year-old and are not prepared to accept fringe players in return.

As things stand, the club are deep in negotiations for a French-based target, and cold hard cash is far more appealing than any part-exchange deal.

If Chelsea are indeed serious in their intentions to sign Kudus, they’ll have to return with a far more tempting transfer offer.

  • Mr Jordan says:

I think kudus should be at Stamford Bridge

  • Dave says:

The way FFP works, you need cash on the balance sheet.
Taking players instead of cash leaves you in a much worse position.
Better to put cash through the books then negotiate on payment terms for a new player, as Chelsea do…
That’s why you rarely see swap deals anymore.

  • Glenn says:

A player or 2, plus £50-60m is not bad business. Lesley Ugochukwu who played for Southampton last season looked ok, or at least he did against us. Any of those CBs would be welcome too, they’re all better than Kilman.

  • Jack Smith says:

Carvery, tosin and chalobah would be good business. Sorted defence and home grown quota and add some energy in midfield

    • Pav says:

With the exception of Sanchez and Carney they’d be upgrades on what we have. Tosin would walk into our central defence as would chalobah

  • Chris David says:

I’d take Chalobah in a heartbeat. Not too interested in the others though.

    • Jamie says:

      • Mick bering says:

Fair point Jamie but we have been connected to two of the players recently offered
