One of the more bizarre rumours surrounding Graham Potter’s future at West Ham began circulating this morning. The claim suggested that vice-chair Karren Brady had approached Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Vítor Pereira about replacing Potter in the Hammers hot seat.

According to the story, Baroness Brady supposedly spoke directly with Pereira’s agent, Jorge Mendes—who, by coincidence, also represents fellow West Ham managerial candidate Nuno Espirito Santo.

Mendes is the agent of Pereira and West Ham target Nuno Espirito Santo

Potter remains under serious pressure to keep his job, with Espirito Santo already interviewed twice by both Brady and David Sullivan.

When Claret & Hugh heard of the Pereira rumour, we immediately contacted our top transfer source to find out if there was any truth in it. The response was clear: this was a false story.

Our source laughed off the suggestion, saying: “Why would they do that? This Wolves team are nearly as bad as West Ham.”

When asked if any discussions had taken place between Brady and Mendes about Pereira, the answer was an unequivocal no.

We have since confirmed that Pereira is not among the three names shortlisted to replace Potter should West Ham lose against Everton.

A surefire reason Sullivan won’t do that is that he would need to be bought out of a contract that runs until 2028.

It will be a no compensation paid manager the best of which is Nuno so it’s Nuno that I expect to see appointed.

I don’t think anyone wants to sack potter , I think there hoping the team bucks up and gets him out of jail, I think we will beat Everton and that will compound matters somewhat, crystal palace only beat us 2-1 they would have done us a favour if it had been 10-0 but they didn’t.

  • Hammeroo says:

Sullivan won’t even pay compensation to another club for a successful manager. Why would he pay out for one that is struggling? It beggars belief!

  • Kenny Irons says:

It’s West Ham, Sullivan & Brady are checking on Managers who are members of “The Big Top”…surprised we haven’t been in touch with Rangers about availability of Russell Martin !!!

  • Ray says:

Well at least everyone (except Potter) seems to agree that West Ham are the worst club in the PL. Not necessarily the worst team, or the worst players, but definitely the worst club, the bit that Sullivan and Brady are responsible for.

  • Dave says:

    Why would they do that?
Same reason they chose Grant, Pelegrini, Lopetegui,
    They are absolutely clueless…
