West Ham have received a shot across the bows this morning, with a veiled warning that Tottenham Hotspur may not be willing to raise their bid for Mohammed Kudus.
Now, Iāll admitāI may be putting two and two together and arriving at five. But a lot of the noise coming from transfer circles suggests Spurs chairman Daniel Levy isnāt interested in a drawn-out haggle over the West Ham winger.
London Stadium sources are staying tight-lipped on anything Kudus-related, but Claret & Hugh have this morning spoken to a senior transfer contactāsomeone who has worked on deals involving both clubs.
Officially, West Ham are still insisting that no formal bid has been made for Kudus. Unofficially, itās widely believed a Ā£55 million offer has been lodged.
When we put the question directly to our transfer sourceā”how much would Spurs need to bid to get Kudus?”āthe answer was telling: āIF they go higher. I think they will but it’s not guaranteed, this is all part of the gameā
That comment came at the same time Tottenham sources began leaking that the club have now turned their focus to Nice striker Evann Guessand.
Bluff & Bluster? Classic Levy haggling? Probably. But one thingās for sureāDaniel Levy is playing hardball with David Sullivan, and it remains to be seen whether West Ham will hold their nerve or cave under pressure.
This could all just be public hagglingābut it certainly feels like the Kudus saga is entering a decisive phase. That said, West Ham bosses have to be prepared to walk away from this because not too many will complain if Kudus remains in East London rather than moving North.
I wonāt be happy if weāre still lumbered with Kudus in the coming season but at the same time I wonāt be happy if we sell him to Spurs because there is always the danger he wonāt be as rubbish playing for Spurs as he was playing for us last season.
Dealing with the spudsā¦. Iām glad I donāt give the Directors any more of my hard earned š”
Hardly “Hardball” is it, he just doesn’t understand West Ham’s definition of “desperate”. Depending on whether you believe WHU have a cash flow problem or not, holding out for a decent payday on Kudus is the way to go. If he stays, he must realize now that nothing other than his best will get him what he craves, and his best will do us just nicely. WHU need to forget about what they cannot easily control and focus on doing the best job possible with what they have. Longer term they really do need someone with significant cash, a business brain and a passion for WHU to replace Dip Stick & Co..
Ā£30 million that’s it not worth any more Westham reject
The problem is that Potter is a useless coach who doesn’t know how to use talented attacking players . He discourages fast breaks which is Kudus’s strength .
Wish something would happen as the whole Kudus saga is longer running than Eastenders ! But, we donāt sell to Tottenham,,period !
Now I’m hoping on this subject the board understand what is going on. Set a price and if anyone don’t make it don’t sell. He’s a great player who should then be told show them what they are missing and then it will happen for you.
Unless Kudus desperately wants to go why sell him. We are unlikely to get more than Ā£50m which Potter will only waste on a couple of players that wonāt improve the team.
If Kudus has a season like his first his value will rise back up to £80m
It didn’t work last season and it may not be pleasing to Potter.
On paper present forward line, Bowen/Kudus/Paqueta/Summerville (maybe Fullkrug/Soucek chipping in) looks formidable to score goals.
C/bks, Killman/Tobido/Aguerd look more than capable (not sure about Mavro).
Malick Diouf is 90% signed just need new goalkeeper and another striker who play for 90 minutes.
Giver Spurs middle finger and get team gelled.
5 weeks to start of season and Potter needs to work with what he’s got multiple signings are not going to happen.
Would have been nice to get a couple from U21 championship squad but some things are not meant to be. To
So … Spurs put in a 55 million bid for an 85 million player and threaten to walk away..šššš
If spurs think they can ride rough shot over us then they are in for a big shock allowing kudus to join spurs would be a very bad move the owners should tell levy and co this is the minimum amount we are prepared to let kudus leave and that itās not open to negotiation and most definitely make them pay more than any other club as for kudus himself he knows the situation between us and spurs if he was to take a stand that he has no intention of signing for spurs he would backed by the fans and I do believe the owners as well itās just potter that doesnāt get it and believe me he needs to or he wonāt be West Ham utd manager for long
You’d have to go a long way for Sullivan to lose his nerve, especially when it comes to money. If Levy wants to walk away then let him,it’ll be no great loss as others want Kudus.Bye Levy!
Levy is holding Spurs back by not paying the going rate for quality players and their wages. If you pay peanuts you get monkey’s, we’ve all heard that one.
Heās has so much quality the club will allow him leave ššš
Dont sell to the spuds at any price
Absolutely agree Tom, they are direct rivals, so why strengthen them.
Levy is just as bad as Sullivan when it comes to lowballing and ghost bids safe in the knowledge that they can rely on the āoh well, we did tryā narrative.
Personally, I just hope we have no intention of selling to them at any price and are just keeping them at the table to aid competition if/when another team come knocking.
If we donāt get 65-70 for him then he stays. Personally I like the look of a couple of Chelsusa players in Part Ex. Sod Levy and so Spuds
65 million + dewsbury-hall.
50 up front and 15 over 2 seasons.
He’s on 80k p/w. So wages shouldn’t be a major issue, if hes guaranteed starts and game time.
We need the middle of the pitch sorted out. And a right footed winger for the left, to play as an inverted winger. If we are playing 3 at the back with wing backs.. they’re the ones crossing the ball primarily, or should be.
Cool, off you pop! š
Tell Levy to fork off
Happy for him to stay heās world class , heās worth between 60-65 million . If he keeps his head down he will be like a new signing up to him to prove his own worth !
Prefiro que ele fique mais uma temporada do jogar pelos spurs , ja basta o declan ter ido pro arsenal ,ate hj não aceitei isso !
Concordo!
is what Levy always does, goes in lowball unsettles the player then comes back a month later.
ignore him someone else will come in
