Reports surfaced yesterday across various news sites which linked Lucas Paquetá with a move back across the Atlantic. As we wrote, articles suggested that discussions had already taken place between the player and his previous club Flamengo, and that Paqueta was ‘getting closer’ to an exit. However this is not the first time that these ‘Paqueta to Brazil’ stories have been published and so we contacted our senior source within West Ham for confirmation regarding the prospective loan deal which was described.

Was there any truth, we asked, in the rumours that Lucas Paquetá – or his agents – had already been in touch with West Ham and that a deal was close to take the Brazilian back to Flamengo on loan in time for the FIFA Club World Cup championship – which takes place in late June?

The answer was pretty clear cut and straight to the point:

“NONSENSE. We’d not loan him anyway. They tried 12 months ago”

Here endeth the speculation that West Ham’s number 10 is halfway out of the door then.

There’s still the small matter of the FA Inquiry to be resolved. Increasingly hearsay suggests that Paquetá will be absolved of all charges against him: He has always maintained his innocence.Perhaps only then can negotiations start – if indeed clubs decide to bid for him – but to suggest ahead of the end of this season that any deal with Flamengo – or any other loan deal for that matter –  is ‘closer and closer’ to completion – is plain wrong.

The poor guy has enough on his plate and is dealing with enough stress and pressure just now without spurious claims that he’s about to disappear come the start of June on some loan deal back to the club he joined in 2007.

Nobody would blame him for leaving behind the English Football Association, to be honest – but until his name is clear and the whole matter is done and dusted – not. and then West Ham will have something to say about the terms of any deal as they will most certainly want to obtain the very best return having missed out on the £80 million Manchester City sale in 2023.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970.. Don't take my comments too seriously, imagine we are having a chat at half time over a pint at L S and "let's disagree without falling out".

What a load of nonsense. Who would try and buy him without knowing the outcome of his trial.

    Clickbait as per usual

The solution to the Paqueta problem can easily be resolved to the benefit of everybody! All the FA have to do is announce they will delay their decision until 2040! That way they will not get sued, WHU can make a packet by selling him…..and Lucas can relax for the next 15 years!

The truth is there’s not much happening to talk about! West Ham are dire and nothing will happen until the seasons end. I think we should sell pac to highest bidder along with Kudos and several others, then look to buy young up and coming players along with a young up and coming manager. West Ham are not a team who can afford the luxury of show pony players who are inconsistent, we need work horses who put in a full shift. I think the fans would be supportive of that. Football has lost its way with all this tactical crap, get back to basics… who scores the most goals wins!

Clearly , there’s no chance of Paqueta being sold for 20 million then taking a huge pay cut to play in a crappy league . Of course the owner would be ‘dreaming’ of this because he would turn around and make 60 million profit .
