West Ham’s first move in the January transfer window could be a midfield fix, Claret & Hugh has learnt this morning.
New Hammers boss Nuno Espirito Santo is still assessing his squad, but he would undoubtedly have discussed the January transfer budget before accepting the job.
And his first move could be to land his former Nottingham Forest player – and summer transfer target – Ibrahim Sangaré. A top transfer insider with experience in multiple deals told C&H: “Nuno did not want to play Douglas Luiz at Forest, which was part of the problem. Part of the disagreement with [Forest owner Evangelos] Marinakis was that Nuno did not want Sangaré to be sold. So yeah, he could look to bring him to West Ham.”
West Ham came close to signing the 27-year-old Ivorian in the summer on a loan deal, but the two clubs failed to agree on an obligation-to-buy fee. With Sangaré expected to feature less under Ange Postecoglou, a January move could now be back on the table.

Not a player I would sign. He is another defensive midfielder who has excelled in the Dutch
League and then struggled to adapt to the Premier League. Is often off the pace, prone to get red and yellow cards and struggled with injuries (remind you of anyone now struggling in Turkey?). Of course Nuno is the manager and needs to be able to sign whoever he wants just hope he finds someone better.
God I hope we are not buying him, he was awful against us!
Everything about Nuno seems positive at the moment. He’s dropped JWP, he might get Kilman playing again, he’s a goalkeeper so he should be able to help our struggling new no1 and now he’s looking to sort out the midfield? If he can sign a striker or 2 under the age of 30 then we’ve got the right manager (at last), hopefully he won’t take any rubbish from Sully either. We’re beating Everton 3-1 tonight as well.
COYI⚒️⚒️⚒️⚒️
Let’s not get to ambitious 1-0 will do.
Hopefully he may (speculation) play Potts and Marshall.
