West Ham manager Graham Potter has shown his ruthless streak by deciding to offload a Hammers favourite in the upcoming summer transfer window.
That’s the latest from our best transfer source, who has revealed that the club and manager are slightly at odds over the future of Tomas Soucek.
Potter has already sanctioned the departures of long-time club servants Aaron Cresswell, Lukasz Fabianski, and Vladimir Coufal. But now, it appears he has turned his attention to Soucek, with Claret & Hugh being informed that Potter has told club bosses the 30-year-old Czech midfielder can be sold.
This development comes just a week after a top West Ham insider informed us that Soucek was well down the list of players the club were considering selling. At the time, we were told: āHe guarantees 5ā10 goals per season.ā
However, it has now been revealed that Soucek is free to find a new club, with Leeds United and Everton emerging as the frontrunners.
Former Hammers boss David Moyes is reportedly keen to reunite with the player, while Leeds manager Daniel Farke believes Soucek could be the difference between Premier League survival and relegation.
Soucek won’t be short of offers
Claret & Hugh spoke to a source close to Soucek last week, who indicated the player would prefer to remain at the London Stadium and sign a new deal. However, the club hierarchy were only happy for him to stay on his current contract.
Now, it seems option three is the most likely outcomeāwith Potter set on completely revamping his midfield ahead of the new season.
If Potter has decided that he should dump Soucek and keep Ward-Prowse in midfield, we are in a terminal spiral next season from the start. Soucek scores vital goals every season, if not for us, then someone else. He has a proven record, unlike Potter the manager.

Might not be so easy. Tomas likes his life at West Ham and will not be happy to uproot and move to Leeds or Everton. Sometimes it is not all about the money.
He might just down tools and see out his contract. We might also find that we need him as we progress next season.

Utter madness if this is true. His commitment, energy, defensive abilities as well as being able to bag 10 goals a season are required in all Premier League squads. As with Cresswell, I think this is a wrong move
Potter and co have no personal transfer experience and he’s statistically worse than Lopetegui as a coach . Now Potter’s about to tear the heart out of Westham by dumping Soucek . ‘ Wno will rid me of this turbulent muppet ‘ . Everything that Potter’s done thus far and is about to do is detrimental to Westham’s chances of surviving in the Premier League . By the time that Sullivan wakes up and sacks this dreary , docile loser , Westham will be consigned to the sporting dumpster . Rebuilding the midfield, good idea provided it’s done properly. The problem is that I don’t have a lot of faith in done properly any more.
As things stand we must be one of the relegation favourites for next season, things have to change and they have to change for the better. Any foul ups and we’re dead meat.
