West Ham are considering a loan deal for Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson until the end of the season.
Before anyone shoots the messenger, I firmly believe signing the injury-prone forward would be a risky move, given his seemingly constant battles with fitness and injury.
Wilson’s agent Will Salthouse, was spotted at the London Stadium during West Ham’s gritty, bare bones victory over Fulham giving further fuel to the transfer conspiracy grapevine.
The striker, who is close friends with Hammer Michail Antonio, is out of contract at St James’ Park this summer. However, he’s believed to be on a hefty wage of around £100,000 per week.
Newcastle are walking a fine line with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), and getting Wilson off the books could pave the way for their transfer reinforcements this January.
Currently recovering from yet another injury, Wilson was left out of Eddie Howe’s squad for Newcastle’s clash with Wolves tonight. Ironically, his previous return from injury coincided with West Ham’s Premier League win in the North East earlier this season. Unfortunately, that comeback was short-lived, as Wilson found himself back in the treatment room almost immediately.
It’s a red herring I’m sure. Designed to make us less unhappy when a different striker turns up that nobody would have wanted but now they’re happy for anybody because at least it’s not Callum Wilson right.
No chance mate! We are already the golden sick note Champions with Wilshire and Carroll, we don’t need this mouthy imposter writing a blog every week.
We wouldn’t be that stupid
Clickbait at its finest. Potter wouldn’t sanction this . Dwarf needs rescuing from himself .
Heard this days ago from a reliable source and laughed it off at the time.
Good old Sully. Pair him up front with Mido.
West Ham really are a play thing for him.
How many more “sick notes” do we want to slaughter money on?
A fit in form striker is what we (and everybody else)want
OMG PLSE NO …HES AWFUL …
Come on he will get injured straight awsy…do they not learn…FFS
There is no way that Graham would sanction any move like this. We already have an aging forward line and only Danny Ings who has scored 5 goals in 2 seasons. Injuries to Antonio, Fullkrug, Summerville, Bowen and Todibo mean we need to bring in proven young strikers who align with his ambitions to get back into Europe. We should also use Luis Guilherme instead of sending him on loan or selling him before he has had an opportunity to show what he can do. Look at 18 year olds like Martin Lewis-Skelly who Dec is just raving about after the Tottenham game.
Kobbie Mainoo, Archie Gray and Harvey Elliott are other examples of young players who have proved how trusting young players at Premiership level have been successful. Graham has already talked about the importance of our Academy.
Wilson is another injury prone striker that is in the treatment room more than on the pitch and only played 4 games with zero goals this season! Injured again in December for up to two months with his hamstring! We should not even consider any move for him.
Sorry typo meant to say Myles Lewis-Skelly – what a fantastic talent.
Isn’t it time we avoided crocks, lame horses, German cripples and useless Italian playboys and chose someone tall and sturdy; tougher than diamond, with the heart of a lion, and is so fit he hasn’t missed a game for us through injury in 4 years ….. yes I’m talking Tomas Soucek! Put him where he really belongs. He might even be the next Frank McAvennie
I agree Thom. I’ve always thought Soucek looks like a target man playing midfield. He does have a goal or two in him.
Is it April Fools Day 😕 don’t want this Injury prone donkey anywhere near West Ham
Please no, this has to be a wind up. If it isn’t then someone needs to kick Sullivan up the arse -I can’t imagine Potter accepting this, as within three weeks he”ll be crocked.
We could run a sweepstake, winner gets to do the kicking…
It wouldn’t surprise me, our decision-making is terrible. It’s amazing that we get by as well as we do the decisions are so awful.
If they buy him they will deserve all they get. If they want to splurge money without solving the striker issue, why not reduce entrance fees for youngsters and pensioners instead?
This has got to be a joke with Wilson’s injury record 1000% no! He is constantly injured and just look at his history:-
From To. Injury
8/12/24 – to date Thigh injury
13/8/24 – 24/11/24. Back injury
5/5/24 – 19/5/24. Thigh injury
11/2/24 – 23/4/24 Chest injury
1/1/24. – 8/2/24. Calf injury
8/11/23 – 9/12/23. Thigh injury
25/9/23. – 18/10/23 Thigh injury
5/2/23. – 17/2/23. Thigh injury
I won’t bother listing earlier injuries but they include further long term absences from 28/12/21 – 7/5/22 with yet another calf injury. £100,000 a week not a chance!
I’m sure some of these stories are just a method to rile the natives. Well it works……..
But I suppose with Sulivan it could always be possible
This stinks of someone being clueless……deffo a sully idea
We’re the 18th richest club in the world and we’re looking at crap like this???? Surely this is a wind up??? Buy Duran like we should have in the 1st place who will pay for himself when we finish higher up the table? We’ve needed a striker for the last 4/5 years???? Either invest properly in the club or sell up and let someone who is genuinely interested and not just laundering money and writing off tax. I know January ain’t the best month to buy players but because of the poisoned dwarf wants to get everything on the cheap or free, so it’s his fault we’re in this mess. Some of the players were being linked to is embarrassing. I bet the other clubs are laughing their heads off. Like a bad version of Ant and Dec???
This is a dream signing for sulli,
favoured agent ✔️
constantly injured ✔️
old ✔️
best days long gone ✔️
a “big” name in sullis world ✔️
pundits will fawn over the signing but remain silent when he’s out injured for 3 months ✔️ We all knew we’d end up here, I’m just shocked that it’s taken this long in the window to get there
Dean I agree 100%.
The dwarf will be all over this deal like a tramp on chips.
Another has been/sick note! Perfect…..
Spot on. I’ve been calling this signing for months.
The sad thing is if he manages to stay fit for a couple of games, we’ll probably offer him a 3 year deal at the end of the loan.
He may as well make Bill ****house the head of recruitment. Steidten rightly gets stick for the Fullkrug signing, but Sullivan’s answer is the English equivalent? C&H won’t be anywhere near as critical about Sullivan for making this signing either.
