West Ham United could be set to land a steal this summer with Chelsea reportedly desperate to sell defender Trevoh Chalobah.
According to The, Times the 24-year-old was previously available for £25 million, but Chelsea’s eagerness to offload him could see him depart Stamford Bridge for a significantly lower price. This has many believing West Ham might prioritise Chalobah over their previous target, Max Kilman of Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Chalobah’s experience in the Premier League is a major factor in his appeal. Having featured in 13 Premier League matches last season, he averaged a solid 1.2 tackles and 3.8 clearances per game. The added benefit of his versatility, offering cover in both central defence and defensive midfield, makes him an attractive option.
Described as “incredible” by Football.London, Chalobah boasts pace, aerial strength, and a knack for winning tackles and clearances. These attributes align perfectly with the kind of signings new manager Julen Lopetegui is likely to be targeting.
With Chelsea motivated to sell and West Ham needing defensive reinforcements, a deal for Chalobah could be on the horizon.
It wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Hammers prioritise the potentially cheaper and Premier League proven Chalobah over Kilman in the upcoming transfer window.
Sounds like a whu deal . . . It’s got the word BARGAIN linked to it.
Earlier Gonzo reported we had little to no interest.
Anything that takes focus off Kilman deal has got to be good news.
It is jeopardising time that should be devoted signing numerous other players needed.
Could have Chalobah & Greaves for less than Kilman. Surely a deal worth considering given the state of our squad.
Totally agree mate it makes sense and with the numbers needed in and those outgoing it is going to be a big transitional season for us so lets not get bogged down on one single target like Kilman
Simon what is the real difference in transfer strategy to previous seasons . What I am seeing as a fan is scatter gun approach & cheap deals if we can ! Why are we so tight with our budget is it Sullivan being tight .
A few Chelsea mates of mine rate him
