West Ham Eye Chelsea Forward

West Ham United manager Julen Lopetegui appears to have a golden opportunity to land a striker the club has long admired, according to reports. With a revamp of the attacking line high on his agenda, Lopetegui has identified Chelsea’s Armando Broja as a potential target.

Lopetegui reportedly views a top-quality centre-forward as the cornerstone of his attacking strategy. While Michail Antonio is expected to remain at the club, he is unlikely to be the regular starter under the new manager.

Chelsea’s 22-year-old Albanian striker, Armando Broja, has reportedly fallen out of favour with manager Thomas Tuchel. This has made Broja, previously valued at £50 million, available for a significantly reduced fee of £30 million.

The Hammers were keen on Broja in the summer of 2022, but a serious knee injury scuppered any potential deal. Now, with Broja seemingly surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, West Ham have a chance to reignite their interest.

West Ham players have spoken highly of Broja’s talent, urging former manager David Moyes to sign him after facing him during his loan spell at Southampton. However, Broja’s loan stint at Fulham was less impressive, and his recent injury raises concerns about his fitness.

A healthy Broja could be a valuable addition to West Ham’s attack. The lowered asking price makes the deal more financially attractive, mitigating some of the risk associated with his injury history.

The truth is that Broja is a diminished commodity and overpriced at £30m. He may be one on the many players who never managed to reach their potential following serious knee injuries. Therefore I suspect this rumour is just rehashed nonsense and I’s be surprised if any real interest exists.

I go along with the doubters. The possible signing of Broja does not fill me with optimism !

Other than outdated. Who in there mind is going to pay chelsea even 20 million of their youth graduates, whom don’t perform.
I’d rather take an unprooven city youth player for 30 million. At least they dont over inflate due to the brand. And unfortunately, as much as Broja would **** all over myself on a pitch. He is not 30, not even a 20 million player. He is a 5-8million investment/ punt.
Certain players fit certain teams and their tactics better than others. At his age I feel we would be better moulding a player than purchasing a player chelsea can’t nurture

Another has been being talked about joining us we need a striker that knows where the back of the net is if we have to bring in a striker from the premier league then we should be considering rashford now Man Utd want to move him out he would be a great signing if we were to go after him we got burnt with Phillips we don’t want to have the same situation with broja he would be a step backwards

He did nothing at Chelsea due to injury and is a small fish in a big pond with all their elite players.
Unfortunately moving to Fulham didn’t improve his productivity (same as Phillips move to whu).
Price tag is still way to high and Chelsea are just looking to offload him.
With his mediocre skills £15-£17m is probably more appropriate.
Transfer season not open yet and whu have already been associated with 19 strikers (media?).
Sure they can do better than him.

Yeah, the giveaway in the article is Tuchel.

Bit out of date with the manager there i think?

  • D says:

Is this really sloppy journalism? When you read the article it says Broja has fallen out with his Manager Thomas Tuchell! I think he left Chelsea at least a year ago. It also says JL thinks a top quality centre forward is a definite requirement. So why would he look at Broja?
    He’s rubbish.
