West Ham eye Premier League manager to replace Moyes

|

Numerous media outlets and news reports are claiming that West Ham have identified a Premier League manager to replace Moyes at the end of the season.

The last few days has seen the likes of Will Still, Brendan Rodgers, Paulo Fonseca and Ange Postecoglou linked with The Hammers top job. However it is the manager of London rivals Fulham who seems to have caught the eye of the West Ham hierarchy.

West Ham owner David Sullivan is believed to want Fulham boss Marco Silva as The Hammers next manager

Marco Silva may be the Premier League manager to replace Moyes

It would hardly be a massive surprise if David Sullivan was to change manager ahead of the new campaign and according to reports, Fulham’s Marco Silva is a target for the Hammers.

The article suggests that Silva has a £6m release fee in his Craven Cottage contract amid the interest in the Portuguese coach, who’s contract expires at the end of the 23/34 Premier League season.

The West London club have exceeded all expectations this season and hope to keep Silva beyond next season. It is understood that the Fulham board are in talks over a new deal to keep him at Craven Cottage for the long-term.

The Portuguese coach has done a wonderful job at the West London club following promotion and looks likely to guide them to a top half-finish in the Premier League this season.

West Ham are highly unlikely to be the only club interested in the Fulham manager this summer with the likes of Crystal Palace and Leicester (should they avoid relegation) in the market for a new manager.

However, Fulham will try to convince the former Everton boss to stay as they plan to build on their current progress. Owner Shahid Khan is believed to be immensely impressed with Silva’s work.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.

Moyes has changed nothing in the last month, the same system, same players and same defensive approach. The players have stood up and the teams around us have not got the results to put us under huge pressure. There are terrific football managers available now and for me the likes of Potter, Javier Alonso and Kompany are proper managers. Let’s just compare Moyes to Potter for a second. Moyes a manager who buys players, plays them out of position in a system that does not suit them. Potter on the other hand buys players, plays them in their best positions and plays a system that suits the players. I know whi I believe will take us to the next level. Moyes had a great first season and a half and he keeps rabbiting on about how good the last 2 season were but the second half of last season was terrible stuff and this season has for the most part just continued that way. I dont believe the board will retain him which is clearly the correct decision – I accept these decisions are difficult but you cant keep him based on what we have seen from him over the last 18 months.

If Moyes wins the European cup and considering what he achieved the two seasons after he saved us from relegation the last time, which was hailed as pretty much miraculous by everyone in football, I’d say it would be pretty foolhardy to get rid of Moyes at the end of the season. Sack the manager that wins a trophy for the first time since 1980 and takes us into Europe for the third season in a row? You Moyes out boys better hope we don’t win that trophy if you want Moyes out so badly.
