Le Parisien are claiming that West Ham are in pole position to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Carlos Soler.

It was claimed late last night that the Hammers will have to pay just £17 million to sign the 27-year-old from PSG.

The Hammers have been busy in the transfer market this summer, with the arrivals of Max Kilman, Jean-Clair Todibo, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka bolstering the defensive line. Now, attention has turned to midfield, with Soler emerging as a top target.

The Spanish international is seen as an ideal fit for Julen Lopetegui’s style of play, with his ability to dictate the tempo and create chances making him a valuable asset. Soler’s experience and versatility would add depth and quality to West Ham’s midfield.

If the Hammers can secure the signing of Soler, it would represent a significant statement of intent and further enhance their chances of challenging for European qualification. The potential partnerships available within the squad could be a formidable force in the Premier League.

However, the club will face competition for Soler’s signature, with other clubs also interested in the talented midfielder. West Ham will need to act swiftly to secure a deal before the transfer window closes.

If we can get Soler in and sell JWP I’d be happy with that. For me, JWP doesn’t offer too much in the middle of the park. Soler would be a definite upgrade and more suited to a 4-3-3 system.

Fulkrug has been waxing lyrical about James Ward Prowse having the best deliveries in the world and how he can’t wait to get on the end of them. Can’t see him being sold.

JWP I’d rather keep & offload Soucek as JWP counts as homegrown

  • Ian says:

Surely Soucek is the one we would look to offload from our current midfielders? Hard to think that he can play the way Lopetegui wants to.
Soler would be a great signing for us.

I’d love to see this one happen.
For me it should be Soucek that makes way. There can be no doubt his contribution over the years has been magnificent but he’s way to slow in transition and simply won’t be up to the new style of play.
JWP offers home grown and his set pieces could be useful in the final minutes of a game landing a free kick on Fullkrug’s head
