West Ham fan injured by Palace

|

A 50-year West Ham fan was injured by a beer bottle thrown by a supporter wearing a Crystal Palace scarf outside the London Stadium after the final whistle on Saturday evening.

The Hammer suffered a cut to the head and was taken to hospital where his wound was cleaned up and stitched.

The victim has since given a full description of the Palace fan responsible to the police and they have told the family they are confident in finding the individual as the incident was caught on the high definition CCTV system.

London Stadium staff and police will also be reviewing CCTV footage of away fans who let off two smoke bombs on Saturday evening within the stadium. They are also confident of identifying the individuals involved in smuggling in and letting off pyrotechnics. Once caught these supporters will receive stadium bans from West Ham and Crystal Palace as well as a visit from the police where they will face court proceeding for a three-year banning order.
