West Ham fans have been warned about significant travel disruption on Sunday on route to Manchester as the worst winter storm for seven years moves in with flights, roads and train journies affected.
The BBC have warned that Airlines have cancelled dozens of domestic flights on Sunday as Storm Ciara approaches the UK.
Severe weather warnings have been issued for Saturday night and Sunday with strong winds of up to 80mph and widespread heavy rain expected.
Several rail firms have urged passengers not to travel and say they will operate reduced timetables and speed restrictions on Sunday.
Heathrow Airport announced it had taken the joint decision with its airline partners to “consolidate” Sunday’s flight schedule in a bid to minimise the number of flights cancelled.
West Ham sent out their own warning on social media with @WestHamHelp tweeting “Storm Ciara is expected to cause disruptions to road and rail networks across the country, with speed restrictions in place – please check your journey before you travel and leave plenty of time to get there.”
British Transport Police added “Please keep an eye on the relevant train company social media sites that you are using to get to games this weekend. Poor weather conditions will see speed restrictions and possible disruption to services. #StormCiara“
The storm is not expected to affect the Premier League fixture on Sunday evening unless the Ethihad suffers from structure damage leading to heath and safety concerns.
