West Ham’s Brazilian defender Luizao is set to return to the London club this summer following an unsuccessful loan spell with Pogon Szczecin.

The 6ft 2” centre-back has made just one full appearance for the Polish Ekstraklasa side, who currently sit fourth in the league.

Luizao joined West Ham in January 2023 from São Paulo, having made 20 first-team appearances in Brazil.

He has previously been linked to Lazio and several Brazilian clubs, including Athletico MG, SC Internacional, Corinthians, and Vasco.

Unused Luizão is desperate to leave West Ham and return to Brazil

Under contract with West Ham until June 2026, Luizao is expected to be sold as manager Graham Potter does not see him as part of his future plans.

At 23, the player is eager to secure regular first-team football and could potentially be included in a player-plus-cash transfer deal to bring Yuri Alberto to West Ham.

However, his wages may pose a challenge, as West Ham covered most of his salary during his recent loan. With only a year left on his contract, Luizao will be open to a move to ensure more playing time.
