West Ham could be handed a second chance at landing one of Graham Potter’s primary transfer targets following reports that negotiations between Roma and Palmeiras over Richard Rios have broken down.
The Colombian international impressed during the Club World Cup and had reportedly snubbed a move to East London in favour of joining Roma. Most had concluded that a move to West Ham was off the table—especially with interest also coming from Nottingham Forest.
But news that his proposed transfer to Rome has collapsed could reignite the Hammers’ interest in the dynamic 25-year-old midfielder, who would undoubtedly add energy and drive to Potter’s midfield.
Roma appear to be cropping up alongside West Ham throughout this transfer window, with reported moves for Nayef Aguerd and Konstantinos Mavropanos also doing the rounds. Roma’s interest in Aguerd was shut down early when it emerged they could only afford a loan deal for the Moroccan centre-back—an arrangement West Ham were never going to accept.
With that in mind, it’s hardly surprising to see the Richard Rios deal collapse, especially given his £25m valuation.
At 25 million he would be a bargain sadly I can’t see it happening but you never know .
Not sure this one will happen supposedly he wasn’t interested in West Ham and turned us down.
If Nico O Reilly is someone we are going for he looks like a real talent with exceptional defensive and passing ability.
