West Ham Hit With Disasi Warning Ahead of Burnley Clash

West Ham have been warned not to expect too much too soon from loan signing Axel Disasi, who arrived from Chelsea on transfer deadline day.

Yesterday, manager Nuno Espírito Santo spoke positively about the French defender’s condition. The Hammers boss praised Disasi’s fitness, saying: “He’s been working hard, and he’s in a good place physically. You can see he’s been working hard at Chelsea.”

However, that assessment has been disputed this morning by a source with links to Chelsea, who suggested West Ham may have to wait weeks to see the best of the centre-back.

Speaking exclusively to Claret & Hugh, we were told:
“Disasi was freely on offer to everyone, but no one wanted him because his fitness levels were so low. Clubs that were interested felt he would take four to six full games to get up to the level needed.

“So in effect, he needs a proper pre-season.”

Burnley Test Could Reveal the Truth

The same source added that today’s game could offer an early indication of where Disasi really is physically.

“Tomorrow will tell you the manager’s judgement. Burnley are not exactly going to put you under constant pressure, so if Nuno doesn’t start him, it will tell you the player isn’t ready yet.”

In short, while Nuno Espírito Santo is talking up Axel Disasi’s condition, those closer to Chelsea are urging caution – and warning Hammers fans that patience may be required before the loanee is anywhere near full throttle.

Always a good idea to manage expectations.

    Now, let’s be pleasantly surprised.

As has been said, the bar is very low at West Ham not only defensively but also with half the team apparently unable to put in more than 60 – 70 minutes, so let’s take third party Chelsea comments with a pinch of salt and see what Disasi can actually do. He could be ranked 50th in the PL and still be better than what we have.

I dont particularly care what your chelski source says. Nuno will have seen him up close for this past week and will know whether he’s fit enough for tomorrow. Even a half fit Disasi has surely got to be better than a fully fit Kilman.

we did this last season with ferguson on loan, that worked out well didnt it. we do not learn.

Difference is this time its 10x more desperate, we needed a defender to come straight into the team, especially with todibos stupid antics last weekend, what good 5/ 6 games time? it could well be too late by then.

    totally pathetic , yet again

What else could we possibly expect !!!!!

Good morning/afternoon mate, hope you’re well

In regards to Disasi it’s just typical West Ham isn’t it mate? Bringing in a player who probably isn’t even fit.. just sums us up perfectly but hopefully, he surprises us all and is fit and ideally starts over Kilman tomorrow as surely anyone is better than Kilman, I actually feel a bit sorry for Kilman now it’s the JWP situation all over again we all see it but Nuno doesn’t see it exactly like with JWP we all saw it but Potter never see it we all know he isn’t good enough however, Nuno still persists with using him and it just sends the wrong message to the players, the opposition, the fans.. and it’s clear it’s costing us precious points by going defensive so I hope Nuno can figure something out hopefully, Disasi will help IF he’s fit

Well, the defence bar is set pretty low at West Ham compared to Chelsea so even if Disasi had one gammy leg he’d likely be better than, say, Kilman.
