West Ham and Brighton & Hove Albion are believed to have reached something of a transfer roadblock over the signing of striker Evan Ferguson.
It is our understanding that the south-coast club are pushing for a permanent £40 million transfer for the big Irish striker.
However, West Ham are looking for an initial loan deal with an option to buy and prefer to structure the deal without a significant upfront commitment.
Ferguson has had his fair share of injury problems throughout his fledgling career, so it makes sense that the Hammers would proceed with caution.
There is little doubt about the 20-year-old’s ability; however, even Seagulls head coach Fabian Hürzeler admitted earlier this month that the forward’s foot injury was something of a mystery.
Considering Brighton have been turning down mega bids from the Saudi Pro League for winger Kaoru Mitoma, one would assume they do not need to sell Ferguson for an unfavourable rate.
That said, the Ireland international has let it be known he wants first-team football and is keen to link up with former boss Graham Potter
Another sick note , we are just unbelievable with the consistency that we sign players with poor fitness records .

Ferguson came on in 73rd minute as a sub for Welbeck, so is he likely to be risked if a transfer is happening?
I trust Potter’s judgment if West Ham sign Ferguson. He’s already said they’re not going to just anyone.
Oh and West Ham have had a lot of very good strikers since Clyde Best. The haven’t all been 6ft plus target men and not all of them have been as injury prone as Andy Carroll.
No more broken donkeys . Ferguson’s ankle is wrecked and not only will forever hamper him but will be targeted by dark arts defenders . Currently he has no match fitness or form and consequently would take the next month or two uninjured to get up to speed . There will be safer options in the summer . We already know that the first match he plays he”ll crumple to the floor in a heap clutching his ankle and be out for the rest of the season .
Well he ran around quite well for Brighton today for someone with a wrecked ankle didn’t he.

Ferguson could be exactly what we need to lead the line his latest injury is a concern however potter knows him well and if he believes that he is want we want and need then I think it will work out well for the club his injury may not be as bad as it seems it might just be a way of justifying him not being picked to play for Brighton with the amount of clubs that are interested in signing him says he will be a real statement of intent from the owners and management team COYI
What is wrong with Sullivan? Evan Ferguson is fit again, Graham Potter knows what he can bring, and Evan has worked with Graham. Are many transfers simple when we are involved, the Sulivan Piggy Bank can’t be Empty! Let’s just Jaybsget it done, and his medical completed.
There is no such thing as a guaranteed injury proof player obviously. However there are some who are definitively more susceptible due to clear and obvious anatomical factors…. he is one of these. Big frame, increased stress on biomechanically compromised foot structure and function = clear alarm bells.
So obviously we’ll sign him.
If we want the player get him on a long deal treat him like an Andy Carroll or an Antonio, if he was healthy he would be over £100m having him fit for part of a season every season for 9 or 10 years the money is worth it, if we can improve his physical condition such that the injuries aren’t a problem anymore we will be selling him to one of the big clubs for over £100m
£100 million if he was fit? He’s only scored 2 goals since November, 2023 and is 4th choice at Brighton!
I like this Lad but we have to swerve this demand from Brighton and look elsewhere….he is 20 his body is still growing and the injury he has with his build can prove to be a problem that will follow him through his career.
Lets wait till the summer and if there is a striker Potter likes that we can take on loan then do that deal otherwise just make do.
Been a West Ham fan since the 70’s and haven’t seen a proper centre forward since Clyde Best! What difference will it make whether we sign him or not!

It wouldn’t really matter whether he was fit or not as Sullivan always has to do transfers with very little upfront and loads of bits & pieces which most selling clubs will not accept in the current PSR era.
Personally, I wouldn’t sign Ferguson for £10m, but it’s irrelevant as no one will be joining the first team this window. It’s been obvious even before Steiden was wrongly made a scapegoat for Sullivan’s failings
Not worth £40M on a permanent deal, the injury concerns are far too great for that. Any permanent deal is risky as neither he or Brighton have proven that he’s able to remain fit. All we need is another sicknote striker. Avoid.

£40 million on a permanent deal for a 20 year old with his injury and poor goalscoring record is a massive gamble. Surely it has to be a loan with at the very most an option to buy not an obligation. Chelsea in for him along with 20 other clubs. Walk away.
Need to be very careful here. The last thing we need is another Dean Ashton.
Dean Ashton was a brilliant striker his only fault was getting injured by that chelski prick on international duty that was no fault of his…… But if you mean buying someone who is injured then indeed steer clear let one of the alleged 20/30 other clubs take him

Dean Ashton before his got is ankle snapped by that Chelsea Warwick Davis was the best striker I’d seen at West Ham since MacAvennie.
