West Ham in Shock Move for Brazil Star – Deal Close

West Ham are reportedly closing in on a remarkable deal to strengthen Graham Potter’s midfield, according to breaking news from the La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Hammers are said to be in advanced talks with Juventus over a move for former Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz, and negotiations appear to be nearing completion.

The proposed agreement would see West Ham pay a €10 million loan fee, with an obligation to buy for €25–30 million—a structure that would help the club given current cash-flow problems which have blighted our transfer window.

If true, this would be an incredible and surprising coup for the Hammers. Luiz, 27, is no stranger to the Premier League, having previously played for Manchester City and Aston Villa. The Brazilian only left Villa this summer due to the club’s need to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

A player of Luiz’s quality would instantly upgrade West Ham’s midfield options, and one would assume he would slot straight into Graham Potter’s first team.

However, West Ham aren’t alone in the race. Tottenham Hotspur and Everton are also reportedly interested in Luiz, which means the Hammers will need to get a wriggle-on to seal the deal.

If West Ham can get this over the line, it would be one of the most impressive bits of business the club has done in a while—adding real quality to a midfield that’s been crying out for balance and control.

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

I started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

I give West Ham opinions and interviews on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus. Former video and content creator for West Ham United back in the days of Upton Park. I was lucky enough to feature in the documentary broadcast on that final wonderful game at the Boleyn when Winston Reid broke Manchester United hearts.

I frequently feature on BBC Radio 5 Live and once ate a biscuit in Tony Gales shed.

Connoisseur of salted caramel doughnuts and I love a Sloppy Giuseppe pizza although I'm slightly suspicious where the name came from.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.

Already been denied by the club. Shame though! We couldn’t be that imaginative

  • Mick bering says:

Imn afraid this story is not true or happenning

  • Jimbo 2 says:

How nice if this gets over the line, and all without your ‘top source’ spilling the beans.

Also means we don’t have four months of will he won’t he.

I’ll wait to see Douglas in a WH shirt first before I believe it.

Such a Sullivan signing! Kick the fee into the long grass and worry about paying it next season. At 27, there will be no sell on value. Is Potter having a say on this one at all?! Good player on his day. Was out of form and injured most of last season. An upgrade on the Brownhill rumours though I suppose…

  • Lance Marsh says:

I think that in our case the words ‘in advanced talks’ actually means ‘in advance of any talks at all, especially in these sites that appear to make it up as they go. We won’t really know until we know.

  • Bennyboy baker says:

Be a step in the right direction if it happens Sullivan and co take so long to get their act together that another club would sweep in and sign him and we miss out again that suits Sullivan at the moment it’s just talk I believe when I see him confirmed that he has signed for us until then I won’t be holding my breath

  • Jboy says:

Not for me…Did you see his stats for last season?..Worse than Kudus!….At 27 not really what we are looking for either age wise…
However if he wants to come to the circus then we can probably find a red nose and clown shoes for him.

Seemed quite exciting reading until near the end when it just happened to be mentioned that spuds and Everton were also in the mix.
Goodbye to this deal then …….

  • Selsdonhammer says:

I can’t stop laughing! Yet another player we are on the verge of signing. Remind me, how many of these have arrived so far?🤔

  • Alex says:

Buzzing if it actually happens. As a fan of 32 years, I have the same sentiment as a lot of the previous comments. Any other club being in advanced talks would mean they are on the verge of signing the player but not us lol. I’ll believe it when the announcement video comes out.

  • Jay says:

This would be an exciting signing should we able to finalise the negotiations. I really hope we don’t mess this one up by haggling over insignificant sums of money.

  • HammerDan says:

Let’s not get too excited just yet.

This is about the 4th or 5th player this window we are on the cusp of signing…….. but we still await!!

  • Jeeps says:

Deal close impressive for most clubs but not whu.
Most impressive bit of business not difficult as they haven’t done any other business.
Sully like to give Spurs a leg up let him sit with his thumb up his arse and miss another needed transfer.

  • B says:

IIRC, West Ham were interested in Luis a few seasons ago, under Moyes.
Would he fit with Potters recruitment policy of getting younger, with potential sell-on value?
IMHO sounds like an agent has thrown West Hams name in to the hat to force the issue.

  • M B says:

Wiggle on? If he is available for £25m then we need time to offer £15m, then go back with £18m and bit & pieces, before we ‘at least we tried’ 🤣

  • David Pope says:

🤔 “…get a wriggle on..” …a notion our board are acutely unfamiliar with!
