West Ham in Strong Position to Land Toney

As previously reported, the race to sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney has intensified, with West Ham emerging as strong contenders alongside Tottenham Hotspur. According to reports, the Hammers’ majority owner, David Sullivan, is hell bent on securing the services of the England international.

Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony, a close friend of Sullivan, believes West Ham have a distinct advantage in the pursuit of Toney. In an interview with The Sun, he highlighted Sullivan’s regret over missing out on the striker previously and suggested that the Hammers owner will be determined to rectify this mistake.

Toney’s impressive goal-scoring record in the Premier League, coupled with Brentford’s potential willingness to negotiate due to the recent signing of Igor Thiago, has made him an attractive target for several clubs. However, with Arsenal and Chelsea having withdrawn from the race, West Ham and Tottenham are now the frontrunners.

The potential acquisition of Toney would significantly bolster West Ham’s attacking options and provide a scarily formidable front line. At still only 29 he could make a massive impact on our quest for european football.

Toney has done absolutely nothing since he returned from his suspension, hes a total ghost of a player! Yes certainly if we can take him onboard for 20 million then he’s worth a punt! Otherwise move on, pick a proven goal scorer & not a one season wonder. Seriously, hes totally overrated!

  • Pongo says:

Why on earth are you reporting on this, their is absolutely no chance of us signing toney, if there was we would have been in done the deal and signed him by now, this is just more of what’s become known as sullivan bs

  • Morkus says:

Oh sully leave the transfers to the guy you employed as an expert !
If he wants you a big name signing for his ego sign Geoff Hurst
Toney will cost a lot and will want big wages so not for me thx
I heard Arsenal were put off by his attitude when they interviewed him

  • My left foot says:

We’re buying Toney, we’re buying Duran, we’re buying David blah blah blah. So far we’ve made a low bid for one of em and got nowhere. All BS so the board can say ‘we tried’. Get your steroids out Antonio, looks like you’re up front next season

  • IW says:

For the sake of Brentford Toney has to go. He is absolutely no longer any use to the club. Would someone please buy him.

  • Gary says:

    Only 29? He’s 28 until March.
Sullivan can go to hell. Two players involved in betting scandals won’t deter the no morals owner but when Toney starts mouthing off as he has done at Brentford it will be interesting to see how it’s dealt with.
Still think Toney has convinced himself he’s bigger than West Ham.

  • Dudley Tyler says:

Cannot see us having the money for this and sounds very much like a paper story with Sullivan thrown in to try and give it some legs. Mind you if we are there to push the price up so that he costs Spurs more what’s the problem?

  • Phil McDonald says:

Sullivan not taking a back seat then. He can’t help himself.

  • Ian says:

So is or Tottenham? You know where he’s going then!

  • Hammer says:

Toney could be a hero at West Ham tried and tested in the Premier League and would hook up well with Bowen

    • Dixta says:

So the “strong position” is basically the Posh chairman who is a mate of DS saying that DS is determined?

      • Rico says:

If tottenham want him west ham have no chance

      • Joe says:

DS honestly you need to up your game mate, why are we being linked with another player who has a seriously bad attitude, first we are being linked with Duran who Emery is willing to sell because of his attitude and now Toney who Arteta didn’t even entertain, all our Transfer money is being washed down the drain, let’s face it Toney can only score penalties just like his ex colleague Benrahma another player who just sulked and did nothing and let’s not even go there with Maupay but hope you get the message.

  • Maybee says:

Ivan has 1 year left on his contract and if he can’t get a top 5 enlgand or elsewhere. He will surely see out his contract and go to a Westham with 20m quid in his pocket .

  • Tezzard says:

    Sullivan interfering again ?
