West Ham ‘in talks’ for 27 year old centre back as defender recruitment gathers pace

West Ham United have a problem with trying to recruit new players who are improvements on the existing ones this winter. This was always going to be the outlook once the club became ensnared in the drama at the foot of the Premier League.

After all, who wants a relegation battle the moment they arrive at their new club and the prospect of Championship football next season.

Several players have done their best to quit, rather than join, embattled West Ham United as first Guido Rodriguez swapped an English Relegation battle for a Spanish one and then Lucas Paqueta decided to down tools in his successful attempt to abandon the club that had stood by him through his FA inquiry.

However – life goes on and talks are apparently under way to bring a new centre back to London Stadium.

Hammers fans will be dismayed to read that it is, once again, none other than ‘reluctant Hammer’ Axel Disasi who turned down a move to east London in the summer.

According to the Chelseachronicle.com, ‘talks are underway’ between the two clubs:

“West Ham seek a loan move for Axel Disasi

“[According to L’Equipe], West Ham have positioned themselves in recent days and have started discussions with their London neighbours.”

This is the centre back who cannot get a game at Stamford Bridge and who has not actually been involved in a competitive match since his disastrous captaincy of Chelsea’s under 21 side, being subbed off with his side losing 1-5 against  Benfica u21’s in early January.

Disasi’s ineptitude produced some choice words from the Chelsea fan site, who concluded:

“He was probably never good enough to play regularly for Chelsea’s first team, but to see him struggle in an academy game is surprising.”

If Axel Disasi is the best that West Ham can do, then the Hammers really are in a shed load of bother.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

Dont mess around – just sign Ethan Pinnock who I believe will be suited to a relegation battle

Apart from the reason he is now Disaster, what is it we are hoping for from this guy ? He is in the bomb squad, will be unfit from a match fitness perspective and we already know in a quality possession based team he has mistakes in him, what does anyone think he will be like in a team with a defensive approach ?

Our reserve options won’t be worse with our youth team than this guy who Chelsea can’t loan out to any club and he is a player that according to previous reports turned us down on at least two occasions.

We are not going to play a quality possession based game so that problem should not be a consideration. Precisely the ‘system’ and style that has got us into trouble on far too many occasions. ‘Fabianski can’t play with his feet’. Doesn’t make him a bad keeper. He has had nobody to pass to anyway. Aaahh! Not me. Oops. Another telling off but what were the management thinking?

Keep it honest. Keep it simple. COYI

Just a punt Chesswell @ £25m same scenario as Fernandes signed on last day of transfer season.
Even if this was correct still need a second c/bk.
No good injury wise but Loftus Cheek Villa only want loan club wants sale.
There’s been a number of other younger suggestions recently were they just names out of the hat?
