West Ham Injury Nightmare — Striker Could Be Out for the Season

C&H has discovered some worrying news around West Ham United striker Pablo and his ongoing injury concerns.

Yesterday, Claret & Hugh exclusively revealed that the January £20m signing would not be available for Saturday’s FA Cup tie against Burton Albion. Later in the day, Hammers boss Nuno Espírito Santo confirmed that update — while also hinting, without going into detail, that there could be deeper issues with the forward’s fitness.

Now the prognosis appears to be worsening, with reports suggesting Pablo could even be sidelined for the remainder of the season.

At this stage, it’s unclear exactly what the injury is. But given the striker was introduced as a substitute and seemingly played through the problem during the recent Premier League win over Burnley, you’d have to assume it’s far more serious than first thought.

Blow for Nuno’s New System

If confirmed, this would be a huge setback for both West Ham and Nuno, who only recently switched shape to accommodate two strikers — a tactical tweak that immediately sparked an upturn in results.

It also throws the club’s January business into sharp focus.

With the formation changed and attacking options already thin, the decision not to further strengthen the striking department now looks increasingly risky.

West Ham finally seemed to be building momentum.

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

Started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

Give West Ham opinions on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus.

Sometimes feature on BBC Radio 5 Live and once ate a biscuit in Tony Gales shed.

Connoisseur of salted caramel doughnuts and I love a Sloppy Giuseppe pizza although I'm slightly suspicious where the name came from.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.

Live in a small town in Essex but enjoy the massive benefit of “Legends Nights” with the likes of Sir Trevor, Devo, Dicksy Frank McAvennie and even Paulo DiCanio just last year!
Have Tommy Taylor and Patsy Holland down next week followed by Alvin Martin.
But where are we ever going to find the likes of the absolute legend and soul of our club, Billy Bonds (god rest you) who genuinely sweated blood for our and his beloved club?
Jerrod by far our best player but not a captain and leader- we so desperately need a Bonzo again to roll his sleeves up and socks down and lead from the front.
Never won too much in my era but always played with a passion. Really feel for my kids who never saw the rare but fantastic nights under the floodlights at Boleyn. At least I’ve got my programmes to leave them!!

What about Daniel Cummings, I’m in America so it is hard to keep up, but would he be worth bringing up to the squad?

  • Taffyhammer says:

Thank goodness that someone had the foresight to get Adama Traore into the team before the window shut.

We could do with the guy showing us that he can do a job now.

  • Zahama says:

I wish Pablo a speedy recovery- just as well that we kept hold of Callum Wilson – hope he scores the winner for us tomorrow

The Westham striker curse rears its ugly head again .

  • Ray says:

Nuno sends on an obviously injured Pablo late in the game against Burnley, why? He had other options sat on the bench, including Traore, the player he campaigned to sign during the recent transfer window. Now the story is that Pablo’s injury has been aggravated to the point where Nuno cannot play the same configuration that has allegedly been responsible for West Ham’s upturn in results. Why did he fight so hard to sign another player he doesn’t want to use?

Real shame for the guy, seemed to welcome the opportunity to pull on the shirt and has been working hard. I was hoping he might start to bang in a few goals and justify the price tag and then hit the ground running next season.

Gonzo – is there a recall option on Marshall? Can’t help but feel this higher press and the need for energy from our front two is right up his street. Albeit less of a target than Pablo.

    • Gonzo says:

Hello Jimbo, I’ll ask if there is an option mate. We know someone in the players camp so I’ll see if we v=can get any info.

  • ForReal says:

As I’ve said before, this all dates back to the summer and our lack of spending in key positions.

We received a condescending and patronising email from Baroness Botox that basically insinuated that everything’s hunky-dory at the club and that we’ve got nothing to complain about.

I – like most of us, I’m sure – knew we’d be deep in the brown stuff, as we now find ourselves, and this ownership are on the brink of serious embarrassment and catastrophic financial consequences as a result of their cheapness.

If that happens, it’s over for them.

To be fair there would have been an out cry had a third striker been brought and not a defender.
It has been trimming down that is causing problems.
Never a secret that injuries would cause problems unfortunately it was powers that didn’t recognise it.
Having Marshall and Earth on bench could have eased this problem.
Media are suggesting Marshall’s stint in Germany could see him move on.
Need to give any would be strikers from academy some time in cup game.
    Including newest recruit Lamadrid.
Whu seem to have a magnet to strikers who suffer early injuries.

    • Jimbo 2 says:

Jeeps – Earthy can’t even get in the City starting XI. I think a lot of people have inflated opinions of Earthy based on a few mins in the first team and mostly U21 game highlights.
