Reports have emerged West Ham United have emerged as potential suitors for in-demand Girona striker Artem Dovbyk. However, the speculation must be taken with a pinch of salt considering recent updates on the progress of the move for Jhon Duran. It could possibly be that Dovbyk is being used to put pressure on Aston Villa to accept our latest transfer offer.

The Ukrainian forward has enjoyed a stellar campaign in La Liga, scoring 24 goals and providing eight assists, attracting interest from top clubs across Europe. Atletico Madrid are believed to be leading the race, but have yet to agree personal terms with the player.

With a potential opening in the race, West Ham are monitoring Dovbyk’s situation closely. The Hammers are in the market for a new striker to bolster their attacking options, and the 26-year-old’s impressive goal-scoring record makes him an attractive target.

The 26-year-old, who has been described by former Real Mallorca striker Dani Guiza as being a ‘fast’ frontman who ‘has it all’, led Girona to third in La Liga – their highest finish ever – and helped them qualify for the Champions League for the first time.

However, West Ham will face stiff competition for Dovbyk’s signature, with both Atletico Madrid and Roma keen on securing his services. Girona are believed to value the Ukrainian at around £40 million, which could prove to be a stumbling block for the Hammers.

Hopefully new players that do come in will play immediately
Not Moyes tactics where they need to be bedded in for 2 months before getting a start.

Villa must believe we are village idiots and we are showing that we may be.
    £40M not enough?
Perhaps we should agree and give Villa 75% of the sell on price as well

We will end up with a washed out mercenary that cost about the same as jellied eels. It is the same every transfer window.

Go back to promising youngsters from the lower leagues which would be in Sullivan’s West ham budget, but for christ sake just get some players in & buy them without all the saga going on for months, I can’t take more of this dithering from Dave Sullivan, hope squad size is increased by time season starts & the manager stays.

Villa are playing massive hardball about Duran, which they are entitled to do. After £40m rejected I would like us to walk away. Wan Bissaka has rejected us also for money. Keep looking but outside the Premier because price will kill us.

Brinksmanship at its finest. Let’s hope that the actual football is as entertaining as the close season transfer saga.
      Up the Hammers
