West Ham keep six players waiting for contracts

|

West Ham will not be making decision on which players will be receiving new offers until they discover which division the club is playing in next year

Six players see their agreements ending at the end of the season and should the club retain its Premier League position they can all expect to get new offers.

The club wants to retain Vladi Coufal who has an option on his deal as interest from Bayern Munich emerges.

Manuel Lanzini could see himself receive a two year extension but the club open to offers this summer regardless if a valuation can met.

The Hammers also have a one year optionĀ  on keeper Lukasz Fabianski which could be activated as he remains in very good form.

Angelo Ogbonna too could get a new short term contract if he remains fit with the 34-year-old Hammer has shown he can still be a valuable squad player when called upon.

Aaron Cresswell could be offered a short term 12 month contract at the end of this season. The left back turns 34 late this year and could get a ten year testimonial if he agrees a new short term contract with the Hammers.

Ben Johnson is also out of contract but the club are uncertain on negotiating with any of the players until this season’s issues are resolved one way or another.

From the list I would not make any decisions until a new manager is appointed. For example a manager like Potter will want to keep for example a player like Lanzini. So as soon as we are safe the recruitment process for a new manager needs to be acceralated. If I was that manager of the 6 players probably the easiest decision is Johnson, his performances do not merit a new contract and I think for the player himself he needs to find his level. The second most straightforward decision is keeping Coufal and offering him a new contract. Great attitude and great defender. For sure I would retain Ogbonna and Lanzini if I was the new manager and I would release both Fab and Cresswell. One final point I would also seriously consider bids for Soucek, Antonio and Ings.
