West Ham have made a renewed attempt to sign Lille striker Jonathan David, Claret & Hugh have been informed.

In conversations with a London Stadium insider, it was confirmed that the club now places signing David “top of the list” in terms of priority—but there is little confidence the deal can be completed.

As C&H reported in January, Barcelona and Arsenal are considered frontrunners for the soon-to-be free agent’s signature, though the Canadian international has multiple significant offers on the table.

Rumours emerged two weeks ago claiming West Ham were the first club to lodge a formal offer with the player’s representatives, but that was false. David already had proposals from Arsenal, Manchester United, Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, and both Milan clubs.

There have been notable developments over the past month, with reports suggesting that Barcelona have now pulled out of the race. Hammers boss Graham Potter has since asked for renewed urgency in the club’s pursuit of the striker.

As a result, West Ham have submitted a second proposal—but we understand that our financial package is not currently among the most competitive offers on the table.

The club remain in the market for a forward and believed to have a short list of transfer targets.

If his main driver is the most money, he’s not for us. We want people who want to play for us – the joy of football. Let him resource his pension from elsewhere.

Complete waste of time…why bother ..out of all the packages David was offered ours was down near the bottom…add arsenal and the other top clubs going for him , we have absolutely no chance ..unless they put forward a big offer on wages , wich we all.know won’t happen….so we will waste time as usual going for a player
We have no chance of getting …..I bet by the time they realise this we will panic at the end of the window and end up with another fulkirg or ings…they just won’t pay the wages or money needed to get a top quality forward…we need 2 strikers minimum as well before next season

Why’s David still in talks if there’s no chance of him signing. These rumours ain’t going away either.

Another Sully “We did try” fable

  • David says:

We would need to offer a free transfer if not qualified for champions league at end of season That might give him something to take a gamble and join us

Gonzo I think you’re great but please no more about Jonathan David. Even in you’re report it says we don’t think it will be enough it just makes me laugh please no more about Jonathan David unless he signs and as the photo done in the shirt which ain’t going to happen.

Is Jonathan David our new Carlos Bacca ?
Every single window we were linked to him and the same now with David….
Never gonna happen, move on to targets that are realistic and that actually want to join us

  • Sully says:

I don’t doubt a bid has been submitted, it’s just with Sully involved the bid will have been a bag of nuts per match and he has to pay for his own parking and kit.

  • pat says:

Stop this nonsense now…we are not and never will be in the “race” for this player…. so be a bit more Realistic and understand we are not a big club we are not in Europe we are not an attractive option or ever will be whilst Sullivan runs the club

If Barcelona and Arsenal are after him, what is the point of trying a low offer and increasing it later. Just offer what you can afford in the hope that it will grab his attention and keep looking for alternatives. We ain’t trying to sign some unknown from the lower leagues here.
