Hammers refuse to quit in Kilman pursuit
West Ham United are set to intensify their efforts to sign Max Kilman by approaching Wolverhampton Wanderers with an enhanced offer, aiming to secure the defender for the London Stadium ahead of the new season. It is now being reported that The Irons will make a fresh bid early THIS week in a effort to get the deal done.
The Hammers have had at least two bids for Kilman rejected so far, and it’s believed that new manager Julen Lopetegui is keen to appoint the Wolves player as his captain.
West Ham’s initial bid, rumoured to be around £25 million, fell significantly short of Wolverhampton’s asking price. Their latest offer, closer to £30 million, included a player swap option, likely involving Danny Ings or Maxwel Cornet.
Wolves are holding firm at a £45 million valuation, but reports suggest West Ham might be prepared to increase their bid to £40 million to finalise the transfer.
Lopetegui has already made significant additions to the squad, securing Brazilian teenager Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras for £25 million, and strengthening the goalkeeping department early in the summer transfer window.
Cmon Dave, Kilman is NOT an average defender. Good skipper too.
You been hiding under a rock mate!
If you think he’s a good leader & captain I suspect it’s you that’s been under that rock, he’s not vocal & doesn’t organise – he looked far better with Dawson alongside him & needs to thank Conor Coady for getting him so far by organising him before that
Càn have Ings and one Cornetto for free. Even if we don’t buy him lol
Hurry up and pay the money. West Ham must have 40/45m big club like the ammerzzzz
Mr Lopetegui won’t be happy if he can’t get his captain.
As for offering Ings and Cornet is laughable
Good luck and get on with it. Ball playing defender and hardly injured and our captain please take him and pay the cash.
Take as near as 40mil and invest in at least 3 other players to strengthen the squad.
They will.psy 40 0lus add ons in the end …its to much but they will
So just get on with it
Average centre defender. Dawson stood out better alongside him for £2.5m.
He was bang average last season, all the big clubs are looking for centre backs, no one will pay that much.
Desperate signing.
Remaining contract length and age are big factors in transfer fees that many supporters completely overlook. You are buying out a contract and the longer it is the more you pay.
The younger a player is the longer they might play for you so the more you pay. Dawson is 34 and his career is nearly over so not worth a lot, Kilman is seven years younger at 27 so worth considerably more.
Transfer fees reflect a whole lot more than just how good a player is.
That’s the way transfers work. The sellers set a high price if they can and he has a long contract so they can. The buyers build up from a low price negotiating terms and add ons, there’s often a point at which agreement is reached. He’s a good age, he’s a good premiership standard without being more than that. He’s clearly the gaffers first choice, it will probably get done.
