West Ham are being strongly linked with a move for Marcus Tavernier of Bournemouth as a potential replacement for Mohammed Kudus.

The 26-year-old former MK Dons and Middlesbrough winger scored three goals and registered five assists for the Cherries in the Premier League last season.

Tavernier had previously been linked with a move to his hometown club Leeds United earlier in this transfer window. Bournemouth have reportedly slapped a £30m price tag on the player, having already sold Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid and Milos Kerkez to Liverpool.

Presumably, Andoni Iraola is under no pressure to sell, given the money already brought in—something that may explain Tavernier’s inflated valuation.

It’s worth remembering that Bournemouth beat West Ham to the signing of French wonderkid Eli Junior Kroupi last January. And with Antoine Semenyo remaining at the Vitality Stadium next season, Tavernier’s game time could be more limited.

That said, with Crysencio Summerville returning from injury and Luis Guilherme also expected to feature heavily as Kudus replacements, this one feels a little unlikely.

Stop buying old players, this KWP move is hardly exciting he is unlikely to get a start except in cup games.

Martinez £14m release clause and a bright future ahead instead it’s a 29 year old player with little resale value signing as a free transfer, hardly forward thinking transfer policy.

The only thing I can say about Tavernier for £30m is that someone must have been drinking in the Tavern if they think that’s likely
