West Ham are currently scouting in excess of over one hundred players across the world of which just two or three will make it into Manuel Pellegrini’s squad this summer.
The manager is looking to add real quality and the scouting staff have been kept seriously busy for months as the boss looks to add to his squad.
Director of football Mario Husillos is understood to be talking to agents having identified a number of players on manager Manuel Pellegrini’s wanted list.
West Ham are forecasting a loss of between £25 to £30m this season after spending £89.5m last summer and the initial summer transfer budget will start around £25m plus player sales.
A senior club source speaking to Claret and Hugh via email told us: “We are scouting 100 players at the moment, maybe 2/3 will join us”
The club are tight-lipped on their main targets at the moment but speculation will invariably increase as we approach the close season. However, Celta Vigo’s Maxi Gomes – as reported here on a number of occasions – is a serious target.
I’d say we need 4-5 especially with sales but I wouldn’t do more then 5 or 6.
A CB, LB, CM, CF (maybe 2)
RB good if Zaba stays & Johnson but need LB & Masuaku prob be sold.
Maripan would be great also linked with Real Betis Aissa Mandi solid CB can cover RB & LB.
CF we will have to spend big on tho if Newcastle don’t get Rondon at £16m I would take is 29 but has 3 years in him & been great this season does well with good wingers & WBA didn’t get best of him score more here. Well rounded CF. Gomez or Mitrovic be great but seeing Belotti a lot not a huge fan had that one good season they wanted £100m & I said too much. Don’t think he would suit PL.
Tho Sebastian Haller is not on at Radar & he looks tailored made for PL 24yo hand in 31 goals in all apps tall physical #10 #9 front 2 lone CF. Great link up 9 league assists 15 goals well rounded. Jovic gets all the plaudits but Haller has been key to Frankfurt’s success
I’m 40 years old and could play striker better than half these guys. To beat Andy all I need to do is stay fit. To beat Perez and Marco all I have to do is try. At least in my opinion Chicharito and Hugill do give the effort, but neither is quality enough
That’s the dumbest thing I have ever heard. We are losing are entire strike force in this summer, we need three strikers alone. Andy, Marco, Chicharito, Perez and Hugill will all be gone, so don’t print this nonsense
Rather two or three highest quality players than ten average ones.
Need more than 2-3, given we’ll need two strikers, a left back, possibly a right back if Zabaleta leaves, quite possibly a centre back and midfield.
But I guess this is Sullivan trying to manage expectations when he doesn’t spend much.
Normally he’d wait until after the season ticket renewal deadline before he leaks this information!
Seems sensible but we will be losing some quality to fill those slots maybe 2 quality out plus some dross like Hugill, Oxford etc for 3 in ? If your figures are correct Sean do we know the out list ?
