West Ham United have sent young midfielder Patrick Kelly on loan to League Two side Doncaster Rovers for the 2024/25 season.
The move will provide the Northern Ireland youth international with valuable first-team experience as he continues his development. Kelly impressed during pre-season with the West Ham first team but will benefit from regular game time at Doncaster.
Now that Lopetegui has added plenty of experience and know-how to his first-team squad, the Hammers can begin turning their attention to helping the development of the next generation of young players.
Kelly would have gained some excellent experience from spending pre-season with the first team, but after a few seasons of youth football, playing in League Two will be much better for his development.
West Ham will continue to monitor Kelly’s progress throughout the season, with the aim of integrating him into the first-team squad in the future.
