One of the more surprising transfers of the window is the departure of fleeting West Ham striker Evan Ferguson to Roma.
The young Irish forward was never really given much of a chance at the London Stadiumāan odd situation, considering it was former boss Graham Potter who pushed so hard to bring him in.
Ferguson joined West Ham from Brighton & Hove Albion in January after a long period of negotiation. At the time, it was reported that Brighton were insisting on a loan deal with an obligation to buyāsomething West Ham wisely rejected.
Now, Iām not entirely sure whether Ferguson is a good player or not. Quite frankly, we didnāt see enough of him to make a fair assessment.
But Roma clearly see something they like. The Italian giants are said to have agreed a loan deal that covers Fergusonās full wages, with an option to buy set at ā¬40m. It seems the striker is now surplus to requirements at Brighton, so perhaps heāll have the chance to show his quality in Serie A.
Interestingly, Roma remain linked with West Ham defender Nayef Aguerdābut only under similar terms: a loan with an option to buy. Thatās a structure West Ham have to C&H they’re reluctant to entertain
