West Ham Miss Out Again? Targets Near Moves as Hammers Stall

With the summer transfer window heating up, two West Ham targets are close to joining new clubs – much to the frustration of Hammers supporters.

Middlesbrough have accepted an offer from Ipswich Town for Hayden Hackney in a deal worth £20m.

However, Hackney, aged 23, is mulling over the move as the homegrown midfielder would prefer a switch to a Premier League club or a European top-flight side, rather than another team in the Championship.

Ipswich’s proposed salary of £35k a week would mark a substantial increase on Hackney’s current earnings.

Meanwhile, Liverpool and England U21 international Tyler Morton is in discussions with French club Olympique Lyon.

The Reds are reportedly demanding a €9m transfer fee for the player, whose contract runs until next summer, yet the cash-strapped French giants are struggling to match Liverpool’s demands.

West Ham, who reportedly have a war chest of around £150m (see previous article on PSR), are in a strong position to close either deal – yet despite suggestions they do not need to sell players before bidding, the club seem to be watching from the sidelines.

I have been a season ticket holder since the late eighties, so experienced the highs and lows of being a West Ham supporter. I previously wrote for OLAS and have contributed to a number of football publications in the past.

Keep calm. Doesn’t fit the requirement. Too many stories on DMs that realistically we can’t utilise use right now.

  • PB61 says:

I think if we were genuinely interested in either then we surely would have put a bid in by now. Smoke and mirrors most likely.

I’m not bothered about players we’ve been linked with going elsewhere. We’re linked to 100s of players and 99.99% of them will go elsewhere. It’s pointless fretting over it.

What does bother me is that we NEVER get the players we want in early, so they can have a full pre-season. KWP and Diop were deals that could have been made the minute we sold Kudus. The board seem really bad at getting things over the line in a timely fashion.

We havnt missed out This is all in the boards planning They know exactly what there doing Spend least amount money as possible no ambitions In most industries you have to invest and produce But here guaranteed crowds tv money subsidiaries and lots more so they just plod along happily with no care or thought for the fans IMN OK JACK COMES TO MIND

Wan-Bisaka, Todibo, Alvarez, Ward Prowse, Kudus, Paqueta, Somerville and Fulkrug all signed in August.
    It’s August 01st. No panic

€9m yet we were supposedly quoted £25m. Not surprised we looked elsewhere be honest. Be interesting to see what price we’re quoted if we go back.

We are total losers as far as the transfer window goes
We can not get players to come to us
We have the stadium,The fans,Potter but we have owners which I think is the big problem.
They are obviously not getting the right vibe across and no one wants to come to us
It is one player after another we have missed out on
Such a shame lost Tyler and Hackney
    Very sad
Forget Ramsey,he does not want to come,so why try to sign a player who will be unhappy from the start
    These players are above us
Let’s keep with the young hungry players who want to play for us and stop wasting time on the likes of Ramsey,Elliott

Tyler is not a lost cause YET.
Two managers (one an ex the other current) are fighting a losing battle.
Everton tried to hi-jack Hackney after deal was done with another club but failed.
Both need numerous players and both accept they are running out of time.
Sully is the cause at whu not sure about Everton.
West Ham need goalkeeper / mid field Def / mid field Attack and a striker all doable without lo-ball offers.

Over the years I have seen great mangers come and go but have been made to look like amateurs because of the ownership not backing them even tho when they offer them the opportunity to manage the club they say they will and now there doing it again to potter don’t be surprised if he and his team pack their bags and walk away from the club due to the reluctance to not spending money on the players he wants and needs to achieve the results we all want to see
