West Ham missed out on defender – report

West Ham United missed out on a move for Unai Nunez, the Athletic Bilbao centre-back, per AS via Sport Witness.

The defender reportedly has a £25.2m release clause in his contract and AS claim that the Hammers were willing to match it in order to bring him to east London.

However, the one-cap Spain international instead wanted to remain in La Liga, leaving the Irons empty-handed.

Nunez could now instead move to Bayern Munich in the summer, with the German giants adding him to their list for the next transfer window.

He has played eight times for Bilbao this season in La Liga and the 23-year-old will be remaining in La Liga for the remainder of the campaign.

West Ham, of course, have yet to strengthen their backline in the January transfer window.

With the deadline looming at 11pm, time is certainly running out, not just for the Hammers, but for clubs across England.

  1. Worrying times but at least gold and Sullivan have took 3 million each out of the club for interest on loans and also gave that awful human being brady a raise of half a million on her salary………and don’t they deserve that after a fine few seasons……😂😂😂😂😂😂👍

    • The last thing I read on Gold and Sullivan’s loans to the club (which are cheaper to the club than any other option) is that they will suspend or drop interest payments and will only take capital repayments.

As for Brady’s pay rise, which I wasn’t aware of, I, personally, find her by far the worst board member and I’m embarrassed that she represents us.
