West Ham have won both Europa League games played on Thursday 2-0 but have lost the following Premier League games played on the Sunday.
Both defeats came in the final minutes of the match. Should they win tonight at the London Stadium against Genk they desperately need to break that pattern by overcoming Spurs on Sunday.
The first European win came away in Zagreb on Thursday 16 September with a solid 2-0 victory. The Hammers faced Manchester United on Sunday 19 September but conceded in the 89th minute to a Jesse Lingard goal while failing to convert a penalty in added time to leave the score 2-1 to the visitors.
The same pattern happened in late September with the Hammers beating Rapid Vienna 2-0 at the London Stadium on Thursday 30th September only to lose 2-1 again on Sunday 3 October to Brentford again a late goal courtesy of Yoane Wissa in 94th minute.
We must break the Thursday/Sunday jinx this week and beat both Genk and Spurs in the same week.
