Gavin and Stacey star and West Ham fan James Corden has laid the boots into the Hammers’ owners, labelling them as reactive during a blast on TalkSport earlier today.
Corden was a guest in the studio and was grilled on all things West Ham, including the recent VAR controversy in the defeat against Arsenal.
However, it was his take on West Ham’s late entry into the summer transfer window which really grabbed attention, a delay he believes could cost us our Premier League status.
Corden Questions West Ham Transfer Delays
Speaking to TalkSport, Corden said:
“I think the Conference League win in Prague papered over a lot of cracks. Everything at West Ham feels reactive. Nothing feels particularly proactive.
“I think we started the season with a squad that was 100% nailed on to be in this position. And we’d played three games before we bought Fernandes and Magassa in.
“I think Fernandes is an extraordinary footballer.”
West Ham Slow Start Still Haunting Hammers
Corden is bang on the money with that assessment.
Everyone at the time was remarking on the amount of time it took for the club to get going in the transfer market. The net result was then boss Graham Potter having to negotiate pre-season without new signings.
Little surprise the team were unprepared for the season.
I think it’s terrible.
