West Ham planning for early business

West Ham hope to have two to three players signed by the end of June signalling a change to other Summer transfer windows where they have been slow to act.

The domestic transfer window opens on 14 June but the international transfer window opens on 1 July.

Tim Steidten has been working behind the scenes with his new-look recruitment team to get business done as early as possible.

Thilo Kehrer has already been sold to Monaco for £9m after the French club activated an option.

Said Benrahma also has a £15m option with Lyon but that is subject to approval from French football authorities as the French club is on a financial watch list.

Southampton could well test Lopetegui’s resolve by offering £12m for Flynn Downes which would allow the Hammers to recoup the money they paid for him in July 2022.

Kalvin Phillips has already departed after his failed loan from Manchester City and Angelo Ogbonna, Ben Johnson and Divin Mubama will also leave following the end of their contracts in June.  Goalkeepers Nathan Trott and Joseph Anang as Lopetegui looks to bring in another keeper as competition for Areola and Fabianski who signed for another year.

Tim Steidten and Julen Lopetegui will prioritise two centre-backs and a striker but many other positions need to be strengthened over the summer.

Head Count Lopetegui wants to have a full squad of 25 players but to do that he needs eight homegrown players, with Conor Coventry already gone and Ben Johnson and Joseph Anang likely to leave the squad will be down to five homegrown players in Danny Ings, Jarrod Bowen, Michail Antonio, James Ward Prowse and Aaron Cresswell who has signed a one year option to stay.

George Earthy is only 19 so doesn’t count towards homegrown players as no player under 21 needs a squad place to play in the senior team.

Season ticket holders been caught out before, early signings to appease the slower up take this season coming probably.
Need some positivity, U21 promoted to Seniors, exciting new younger players, not the same old ones recycled.
I am looking forward to seeing the squad revamped and replicating the successes of Bayer Leverkusen this season, I hope anyway.

Totally agree, the squad and club need real investment in both players and infrastructure.
I can’t believe we still use porta cabins.
      AFL clubs have better facilities.

No thanks matey I only want to see unbiased opinions, not those that are basically coming out of the sullivans mouth, we all know that we get the same old clap trap every season, we’re interested in signing all those big names but we end up signing back up players at best. We want to see real commitment and the quality signings not false hope, but thats all we ever get enough is enough so nows the time for sullivan to put up or shut up, leave and sell to someone who will.

I agree I have been monitoring the approximate ins and out of monies spent on transfers since being in the new stadium and after the premiership payment which is beyond a 100 million a year the board have spent 20 to 30 million except this season where as no money was spent only the funds from players being sold Sullivan will not buy 8 or 9 players which are desperately needed having a depleted squad a change of ownership is the only solution to West Ham going forward and to add without the 85 million from paqueta sale I am afraid it will be a very cheap transfer market
