West Ham players are reported to have responded brilliantly to Graham Potter’s first day in charge.
The new Hammers boss began his day fulfilling media duties and holding a press conference. Shortly afterward, he headed to the training ground, where he conducted an informal session in front of the in-house media team cameras.
Once the cameras were turned off, Potter set about familiarising himself with the West Ham squad. A source at the training ground told Claret and Hugh: “The players responded really well to the new coach and seem to have a bit of a spring in their step.”
Ghanaian winger Mohammed Kudus later posted a picture of himself training on social media, cryptically tagging the post with the word “tomorrow” and the obligatory crossed hammers emoji. While Kudus was clearly referencing tonight’s FA Cup clash against Aston Villa, it’s evident he was feeling motivated.
Last night, Claret and Hugh spoke to a senior source at the London Stadium who expressed their satisfaction with Potter’s appointment. They confirmed he had already made an impression on the players, saying: “He is spending a lot of time with the players, but it’s limited given what he can do in 36 hours. But, I’m impressed.”
Of course, one training session and a brief meeting will not be enough for the new coach to fully implement his tactical philosophy. However, there appears to be an immediate uplift in the squad’s mood, which could put West Ham on the right side of the infamous ‘new manager bounce.’
Usual hype crap.. Pity they didnt buzz second half at Villa Park
I think this would of been said even if it didn’t happen…can’t have negative stuff already….good luck to him…i just hope the rumors don’t go in forever and we get some concrete news on transfers from within the club ..not a paper over in France…just saying
I like the fact that GP made the comment about playing to the players’ strengths. After watching the training session, he seemed so positive and complimentary about the players (stroking the egos) and they were enjoying themselves. I think Kudus will score a wonder goal tonight!
COYI ⚒️
At least the players can understand what The New Head Coach has to say I could never understand Loppy, perhaps it was just me !!!
For me GP will be The Doctor.
All the pains of Lopu will be soothed away. A few placebo’s will rejuvenate those players injured by conflict.
Good health and joy will return to the squad whilst taking the new tactics medicine. The medicine may be slow acting but the team will respond.
Not at all I tried using sub titles but found there was little substance in what he did say Ray
not just you, we all had problems – even after replaying what he said. No doubt the players did too!
Can only hope, good luck
If only half of the stories about player unrest are true there was great dissatisfaction with Lopetegui.
Potter is a good manager , we have good players let’s see the players gel and all get behind the team . COYI ⚒
Is there any way we can recall Freddie Potts? Think our midfield is crying out for him at the moment
My optimism has risen a lot.
I know we can’t expect too much too soon. But I think the players just didn’t get Loppy, but will have no such issues with Potter, I sense they get him straight away.
Let’s see, but I do think Potter is more the right guy for us and will so well over the next 3-4 years
The players didn’t get loppy neither did the fans his tactics were like unravelling a rubics cube
It would be about time, West Ham got that New Manager bounce.
GP has a lot of player-relations issues that seem to have been created over the past couple of seasons, to resolve.
Hopefully, he will get a good response simply because he isn’t Lopetegui?
We have the players that’s for sure. If Potter can get them playing to their potentials then we will be a force to be reckoned with
I believe the players will be energised with the new manager at the helm and they will show it on the pitch tonight.
Personally I will gauge the situation on wether we get a new manager bounce if not then it is a case of out the frying pan and into the fire.
Harry’s Dad seems like a genuinely nice bloke who’s appreciative of the opportunity afforded to him at West Ham and is enthusiastic with a vision to implement. I think he may go on to be one of our better managerial appointments in the last 10+ years. Too early to get overly excited just yet but I’m optimistic and like what I’ve seen so far. Up the mighty farrrrkin Irons! I’ll be up at 7AM Saturday morning Auswegian time to see his first match.
Harry’s dad😃
We’re getting it live on ITV. I’ll be watching it in bed.
