West Ham players not involved in international duty over the summer will report back to pre-season training at the Rush Green Training Ground on Wednesday (3 July)
All West Ham players are thoroughly tested, scanned and assessed on their return to Rush Green for pre-season training under new head coach Julen Lopetegui.
The Hammers will undergo cardiac screening, which checks the rhythm of the heart, as well as blood tests and weight and body fat measurements. They carry out an ultrasound of the heart and a series of blood tests, looking at inflammatory markers in the blood or mineral markers, such as vitamin D.
A musculoskeletal screen looks at the range and motion of the muscles and joints. Players will then go through fitness tests in the gym and look at power tests and jump tests to see how the players are performing after their summer break.
Lopetegui is likely to take his squad on a 10-day warm-weather training camp with the Algarve a popular destination for the Spanish coach.
